How hard to get a 1BR at HHI

We are real close to buying at BLT (Will be requesting new contract on Monday). My goal is to have enough points to have 1 week at BLT in a 1BR each year. However, since I refuse to go to FL in the summer and since DD is still in school, it is likely that we will not be able to go for a week every year. That being said, I would like to use our left over points to go to HHI every other year or so. How hard is it to get a 1BR at HHI in the summer at 7 mos? We are fortunate in that schools in VA do not start until after Labor Day, so the last week of Aug. (Dream Season) is an option. I know many will say that I should get a HHI contract, but right now I want to concentrate on BLT and have HHI as an added bonus.

It's very hard. There are only 21 studios and 21 one bedroom villas at HHI. The summer months are the most popular there. The studios and one bedrooms are usually gone before the 7 mnth window arrives.

I had been told that it is impossible to get a 1 BR at HHI in the summer; however, I was able to get one for this July. I set my alarm one Saturday at exactly 7 months out, called at exactly the time MS opened, and got it. I realize this is a miracle, and I don't expect it to happen to me again. But it doesn't hurt for you to try. If you get it, just be pleasantly surprised as I was. If you don't, have a backup plan.

It's not impossible but pretty close. Even getting a 2 BR, of which there are a lot more, is not something to count on. If you want one consistently, might want to buy some points there. The problem with your situation is that if you plan summer and can't get HH, you don't have a back up at least using DVC points. I'd seriously reconsider buying if you're limited to traditional school breaks but will not do FL in Summer or maybe buy less points so you can do the WDW trips on points without having leftovers. You could always add on later if you found you truly needed more points.
