How Hard Is It To Operate The Sea Raycer's ?

The boats are very easy to control. Pretty much like driving a water based golf cart.
I wouldn't do them from CBR though (I've stayed there twice, so I've very familiar with the lake), rather, I'd do them at Downtown Disney. You can putter over to French Quarter and grab a snack, then putter back to DD or take a bus from there to a park to continue your day. A great way to break up the day.
.

If you use one to go from DTD to POFQ and get out to get a snack, where do you park the boat at POFQ? I thought that dock had only two sides and both were for the Friendship boats.:confused3

LOL, I thought it was 13! My DS drove his own at age 13 when we rented from the Poly, so I KNOW it ISN'T 14.
DO THIS!!!

I wonder if things have changed. I just copied this from the Sammy Duvall site and it says you must be 16 y/o to drive one, but I know I've seen kids alot younger than that driving them:confused3:

Ive noticed everyone talking about the different places to rent them. We have only rented them from the GF docks.

Can someone list the places they can be rented and where you can go on them? That would be most helpful.

I don't think this is the same thing. I know for a fact we didn't pay that much for an hour and my 12 yo was able to drive his brother around.

While they did it at Downtown Disney, the prices and policies were the same at POR.

Sea Raycers are available at the resorts that have marinas. These are: Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge, Fort Wilderness, Yacht & Beach Club, Boardwalk, Old Key West, Caribbean Beach Resort, Port Orleans Riverside. Sea Raycers are also available at Captain Jack’s Marina at Downtown Disney.

Depending on where you rent, there are three different waterways to explore. If you rent at the GF, Poly, Contemporary, WL, or FW, you’ll be riding around Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon. This allows you to drive up almost to the gates of the Magic Kingdom. Cool! Magic Kingdom area rentals can also drive around the now abandoned River Country attraction. There’s not tons to see, but the nostalgia factor is meaningful for some.

Rentals from the Yacht & Beach and Boardwalk will be exploring Crescent Lake and the canal down to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

POR - you can ride up and down the river, but not to DTD.
CBR - You ride around their lake.

Rentals from the other resorts will be exploring those resorts and the Downtown Disney area.

The Sammy Duvall activities are different, and only on Bay Lake near the CR, and that is the PWC info that was mentioned. They also offer water skiing, parasailing, and more extreme watersports.

The Sea Raycer / Water Mouse boats (as well as Montauk and Pontoon boats) are rented by Disney at the various resorts the pervious poster mentioned and have the same rates and rules regardless of resort.

My preference is to get a boat on Bay lake and explore both sides of the "water bridge" connecting it to the Seven Seas Lagoon right in front of Magic Kingdon. If you want to take a larger group all in one boat, the Montauk or Pontoon boats are a nice option.

Enjoy!

Love the Sea Raycers! I agree CBR is the least fun location because that body of water has the smallest area to explore and least activity, but that can be beneficial in some cases. Youngest dd was finally able to operate a Sea Raycer herself (age 12) last summer and we rented from Poly. I should have rode with her the first time she was operating the boat, but I didn't give it a thought until afterwards when she told me she didn't like the the big area and amount of traffic being all by herself. CBR would have been better for her first time "driving"! And oldest dd had a 15 year olf friend along one time and she lightly crashed into another boat at CBR. No one was hurt thank goodness, except the boat a little, but I sure was glad I hadn't brought her to a busier area!

I think you can drive a boat to DD from POR, it just takes longer than a half hour, so you pay more; unless something has changed, always possible! We haven't rented from POR in a few years. The PWC at CR are jet skis.
