How hard is it to get a Grand Villa at the 7 month window?

Right now I have a 2 bedroom and 2 studios booked at the BCV for October 22-28th, but have been thinking of switching to a Grand Villa. Any chances of getting OKW at that time?

go mark your calender - call the first day you can and ask them what the availaiblity looks like - if they say fine - don't call again until the last day - but if they say we are busy - just call each and every day.

I respectfully disagree with spiceycat's plan of attack.
If I were looking to book a grand villa at the 7 month mark, you can bet your sweet patootie I would be calling every morning at 9:00 am.

How could I book day by day if I don't have enough extra points available to do that, meaning, wouldn't I have to give up my existing reservations in order to take the points from them to apply to the new one day by day? That is why I was thinking I would have to wait until I could book the whole week at once.

Good question. I've not yet needed to do a seven-month switch, but I'm sure I will eventually. I was wondering the same thing.

We have the same problem (or will have next year). I am saving up points and we would love a GV at OKW, but I am getting worried about being able to book it. So we will probably book a 2 bedroom and a studio at BCV (our home resort), but that will use up our points---so I am going to just wait until the end of the week I want, call and see if I can book the whole thing at OKW and then switch our reservation. If we can't, we will just stay at BCV (the points are about the same for a 2 bedroom and a studio as they ar for a GV).

I am too nervous to give up my days one by one in case it doesn't work out, and I don't want to make everyone move half way through our trip.

then don't expect to get a Grand Villa.

you can call at the first day and ask about availability.

as I say if MS say fine plenty - then call at the last day to make your reservations.

however if they say - only 1 or 2 left - or going fast - then you have to make a decision and be prepared to call each and every day!!!

if this doesn't work- then just trade points with a OKW member - you make his reservations and he makes yours.

Interesting thread. In the back of my mind, I have this fantasy about holding a family reunion some year at the BW (where we own) in the Boardwalk view Grand Villa smack dab through the Christmas holiday period. Have always assumed the only way to even have a prayer at doing that would be to dial member services starting at 8:57am on a day by day basis exactly 11 months out. I've never even thought one could have a shot at a Grand Villa outside that; they seem to be constantly booked, in some cases by non -DVCers paying cash.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll just have to take my chances and call at the end of the week I want 7 months out. The suggestion of trading points is a good one too though. I'll have to look into that. We just saw the SS grand villa last week and it is gorgeous!! If I can't get OKW maybe I'll have a shot at that.

If we can't get a GV at the 7 month window for June at OKW, do you thing we could probably get a two bedroom and a studio instead?

Just wondering if instead of locking up our points at our home resort as a back up (Beach Club), we just try the day by day at OKW and if that fails, book the 2 bedroom and studio there instead.

We are looking at the first week in June (not this year, next year). I just want to make sure we have a 'room' somewhere for everyone, but we would love a GV!
