How hard is it to book 7 months out?

I called MS at 9:00 AM exactly at the 7th month and still had to get waitlisted for BLT for the first week in December. It has been almost 4 months and I'm still waitlisted. :sad1: So if you really want to stay at BLT, I'd make it your home resort.

early december is one of the VERY busiest periods for DVC bookings so that is a factor. but yeah, it's better to buy where you want to stay if you have a strong preference...

Factors that influence how hard it is to get into a resort at 7 months are

(1) how many nights you want, more nights make it harder
(2) how many rooms of the type you want there are
(3) is it a busy time for the resort, ie F&W for BWV/BCV

So if you want a couple of days in a 1 bedroom at BLT in June, it probably isn't going to be a problem. If you want 2 weeks over Christmas at BLT in a studio with theme park view, then forget it.

At 11 months I was booking for Mar 16-31 at BWV for a standard view room, right in the middle I am missing a night. I've been on the waitlist for that night and it still hasn't come through yet, and I'm not even at the 7 month mark.

I can't believe there isn't a sticky/FAQ for this subject, since this type of posting comes up from every other potential DVC purchaser who wanders in here. :surfweb:

A sticky along with what rooms and when it is difficult to book them would make a good sticky.

except that most newbies (and even regulars sometimes) forget to check the stickied threads before asking a repeat question. that's why most of us just sum it up by saying:

1) if you have a favorite resort and can book there at 11 months out, "buy where you want to stay."

or else,

2) if you are happy to be onsite at wdw and can book at 7-11 months in advance, then "buy where you don't mind staying."

some people want to try different resorts and there are times when that works out fine regardless of where you own...but you are better off if you can book a resort that makes you happy prior to the 7 month window opening...

here is a good thread regarding availability for early december at 7 months out:

here is a very experienced renter's guidelines for how early you need to book:

and drusba's post quoted here is also useful:

Because one full page of sticky threads would be boring.

My DD and her DH were waitlisted at 7 months for BWV 1br standard view Sept 29 til Oct 6 (1st full week of F&W) and it came through. Amazing! Hopefully you'll get your night.

I own at BLT and my favorite time to visit WDW is in Sept/October. So I always book at BLT at 11 months out and then switch to wherever I would like to stay that time. Until now I never had a problem to find something at 7 months out.

And of course at the same time it means that as soon as I have switched my reservation, there is something available again at BLT at 7 months out.
