How good is Raglan Road?

I was telling my DH about this place- his response was "I don't like Irish food."
:confused3 I am considering cancelling Coral Reef for RR if I can convince him. What would appeal to him? He is def a meat and potatoes kind of guy. He hates any kind of sweetened food (like sweet and sour chicken, teriyaki, etc.). Help! Also, what does the restaurant offer in the forms of entertainment?

A meat and potatoes man should have no problem finding something to eat on the Raglan menu. Do a menu search and take a look - several options of the m&p types.

Entertainment is a band later at night (9:00 I believe), and a very attractive female Irish dancer. I think he would be much happier at RR than Coral Reef, just for the menu choices alone.

Just my opinion, yet I think your husband would prefer Raglan Road over Coral Reef. Here is the Dinner menu for RR http://www.allears.net/menu/menu_rag.htm We absolutely love everything about Raglan Road! The Serious Sirloin was quite good and my husband just loved Paddy's Pork. The only entree I did not like was The Shepard's Pie-dry and blah. They were wonderful about letting us choose a different side dish and having a sauce on the side. The appetizers and the desserts were wonderful! RR has a great atmosphere, too. Check out the menu! :thumbsup2

We Irish are 'meat and potatoes' type of people. Raglan Road would probably suit him very well. I just happen to have had issues with RR on our last visit, but if you have a look at the menu you will find plenty of choices to suit.

We had a good meal at Raglan Road on Christmas Day, but we waited two hours and five minutes AFTER our ADR time. Three of us had Paddy's Pork (pork roast stuffed with sausage) and two had the steak. Everything was served with potatoes.

I would, however, put this as our fourth favorite sit-down meal on our recent trip, and two of the others -- 50s Prime Time and Whispering Canyon -- were also good meat and potatoes meals.

I really like the food and beverages at Raglan Road but after issues with service there, I only eat at the bar. I never have a problem with the bartenders.

Others have posted and said the service was fine.

That menu looks delicious! I think I'm gonna do it- I'm going to show him the menu tonight. Do kids enjoy this restaurant? I have an 8 year old son and a 4 year old daughter.

We thought it was good. I couldn't wait to try Colcannon and didn't care for it at all; everything else was good, and the Bread Pudding was...to die for. Our waiter was good, appearing when he should but not hovering.
We will go back.

Put us down on the dissenting side for this place. After 3 different visits, we just don't "get it". Sure the Guinness is good, but you can get that elsewhere. We weren't very impressed with the food there - the Shepard's Pie and the Fish & Chips weren't as good as what they have at R&C. But we will give the burger a good review. Sorry to say, we also found the service not to be up to par.

I just ate there last month for the first time and it just may be my new favorite
place. :thumbsup2

My kids loved the place. There was a strolling balloon man the night we went (a Sunday). He made the most fantastic balloon animals and hats. They ate mac & cheese and said it was the best they've ever had. Absolutely get the bread and butter pudding for dessert. It's yummilicious!

We've eaten there twice now, and had great service both times.

As for the menu, note that the Heavenly Ham has been removed from the menu - not sure of other changes. I had the Paddy's Pork this time and it was good - and I'm always stuffed - which makes it REAL hard to finish off that Bread & Butter Pudding. I went back with my FiL a couple nights later for drinks and the pudding just so I could have a whole one...
