How gay friendly is the cruise line?

I have been on 10 DCL cruises, I only had any kind of issue on the second one - my then gf and I were seated with a family group of heavy drinkers who were very vocal about how being gay was a sin.

We approached the head server and asked for a table switch - well he apologized and told us he would seat us with another group. He was afraid that the new group didn't speak English...he was wrong! turned out they were all friends from the Phillipines who got together to travel - they immediately switched to English and we all had a wonderful time!

On the TransAtlantic I happened to be seated with a group of cast members - some were old friends and some are now new friends, I was not traveling with my gf - but with her mom! We all had a wonderful time!! The table was of 8 people - 3 gay, 5 straight. All wonderful articulate and fun folks...

I find the crew treat gay couples and straight couples the same - no issue or questions. The room stewards are very comfortable with splitting or not splitting the beds. Just explain the first day and they will be sure to follow through for the rest of the trip.

:cool1: :cool1: I am busy trying to pack for my DP, myself, her neice (8), our DD(5), and her DAD.......needless to say I am getting a bit STRESSED:eek:

This will be our (hers and mine) 3rd DCL trip....a first for the kids, my folks, and her dad.

The only issue we had was our 1st cruise in '99 on the Wonder....we booked a couples special treatment at the spa (don't remember which one)...when we arrived for the treatment we were told it was a couples only thing....we said we were a couple....we got a gaped mouth stare for a few seconds, then they made an okay recovery....but I really couln'd relax and enjoy myself after that start....not my cup of tea anyway really.

I agree with staying in port at Nassau......DP wants to do the historic tour but I really just want to relax on deck and enjoy the ship....I told her to let the old folks go, we'll put the kids in the clubs, and we can have some much earned (after 4 days at WDW) time alone.;) ;) ;)

You can make your reservations online now for Palo's - I suggest you do it, since they book up VERY quickly!

The only time I have ever gotten sea sick in my life was at Palo's.

It's at far aft...we had a window table, the sea was a bit rough....I'm sure the 2 glasses of wine didn't help. I'm not really a drinker.

I didn't get REALLY sick...but can totally sympathize with those who do....I think we'll skip Palo's this time, as well as Nassau.....It's only a 3 day cruise anyway.

We've been on 61 Disney cruises, and in that time we've been seated with same-sex couples probably a half dozen times. It was always at a large table, and I never noticed anyone taking offense or treating them inappropriately. There are also quite a few gay crew members we've met over the years. You run the risk of meeting narrow-minded idiots anywhere, but overall DCL is on a par with WDW.

Will you adopt me?

Me too...hahahaha

My partner and I have been on 2 Disney cruises with our two sons. We had a super time and never had any issues. We were asked where everyone would be sleeping so the Mousekeeper would know which beds to make each time but never questioned further.

The last time I had found the Disboards by then and we sailed with 30 families that had become some of our closest Dis friends. There was another gay family that was in that 30 families that chatted regularly and the kids had instant friends and a great time was had by all.

I am sure there are and will always be those who have a problem with it, but they are free to find another area of the ship if they are so inclined.

Hi there,

Me and my boyfriend are going on our first Disney Cruise in August 2008. We were wondering how gay friendly this cruise is. We're a bit worried about dinner, since it seems that we'll share a table with other people. Hope they will be nice with us...

Paul and I are new to this Cruise thing too.
We're giving it a try in November.
We've been assured by some of these "fine" people here and over at the Cruise Board,
that we will not be asked to "walk the plank". :rotfl:
Unless that's a euphemism for somthing naughty ;) then who knows!:woohoo:

Probably a good thing we haven't attempted cruising yet. The kids aren't well behaved and neither are the so-called grownups.:lmao:

Hey now...I never said that the group of ADULTS I travel with are well behaved :rotfl:

Just that I want the KIDS to be;) I teach preschool gymnastics and tae kwon do...I see enough unruly kids. Personally, I feel the cruise a great place to cut loose a little bit!
(btw, I'm the one front left)

OK...postscript...I'm seriously computer challenged...I have tried everything that is suggested on the tech boards, and I just can't seem to get this to post the actual picture. Maybe you can click on it and enjoy.

The / at the end of your link is in the wrong place. The [] need to have "/img" in them (no quotes).

dang...no luck...well, I uploaded to photobucket...wonder if that'll help??
