How fast does a FP+ get you on and off a ride?

For example, thunder mountain, if I have a fastpass at 10, would it be realistic to make a reservation at 10:30 nearby?
I am sure it's cutting it close, but I'm just curious how fast the FP+ generally gets you through the ride.

TIA!

We rode BTMR three times with FP+ and twice there was a line to get to the FP line. I wouldn't cut it that close, because I don't want to be running for the next thing I need to be at.

For BTMRR we've always been on and off within 20 minutes of entering the FP+ queue so your scenario is plausible, but I'd be comfortable with a longer cushion (10:45 opposed to 10:30).

I didn't think you could overlap. Unless your 10:30am res isn't FP related

Depends on how busy the park is that day. On a light day at 10am, BTMRR might be less than 15 minute wait standby. On a heavier day at 10am, there could be a backup just to get into the FP queue. Note that with FP you are allowed in 5 minutes early. Also like previous poster said, you can't book FP with overlapping times, if that's what you're trying to do.

Just a hypothetical. Nothing very specific yet. I'm actually working on a plan coordinating FP+ with my daughter's DAS and / or lunch reservations to see how much we could really fit in the morning. Wondering if I could try 2 rides per hour or if that would be excessive.

Goal is to make a battle plan then modify from that. :magnify:

I think we rode more than 2 per hour average, but we rope drop and ride when lines are the shortest.

Even with ADRs, won't the system stop you from overlapping? Maybe I'm wrong about that ....

I don't think the ADR and FP systems talk to each other. On last trip, we snagged a BOG lunch ADR after we had booked FP+, there was overlap, but no problem. I then moved my FP reservations earlier, and there was still overlap with the ADR, again no problem.

I think it depends on the time of year if you can get on and off in 30 minutes with FP+, we did most of our trip. We rode everything in Fantasyland last October by 12:30pm, except PP and we snagged our 4th FP with PP after our lunch at BOG. It was a good first day in MK!!

We were just there and went through the FP line several times for BTMRR. It rarely took more than 15 minutes for line and ride. We actually had a one hour period where we had a FP for Splash, BTMRR and 7DMT and did all in under an hour right before our lunch ADR. The FP were under different bands with 2-3 people from our party riding each one.

What do you mean by the FP were under different bands?

There's no reason why a dining reservation couldn't overlap any FP's. It has nothing to do with FP's or the rides, so you can have a reservation that laps into a FP

We were at MK this past Wednesday and didn't have FP+ for BTMRR but went through standby and waited maybe 5 minutes! The park had been opened about an hour at that point, we were shocked that there wasn't a longer wait!

With low crowds you likely wouldn't need an FP at BTTMR at 10 AM, but there is no real way to know for sure. Sometimes FP+ queue gets backed up from the first readers too, so I wouldn't cut it too close. I'd jsut plan to stand-by it and see if you can get to it a bit earlier than 10. Or push your reservation back to a bit later.

When FP+ was in testing, there was a FP+ blackout around ADRs...I think it was an hour before an ADR and 2 hours after? It was totally ridiculous. That went away. Now MDE just tells you there's an overlap in your schedule if you put a FP+ "too close" (by Disney's standards) to an ADR. For example, for our upcoming June trip, MDE is giving me a warning that my 7DMT FP+ (10:30-11:30) overlaps with my BOG lunch FP+ (11:25).

That's what I'm remembering. Thanks for this - now I know I'm not crazy (at least in that way :))

We did Space Mountain with FP yesterday. Took maybe 10 minutes at most to get on the ride. If you gave yourself a half hour cushion, I don't think you would have any problem.
