How fast do you walk?

I have been told that I am the slowest walker in the world. I know that when I go to the park and walk, I get lapped by all kinds of people so there must be some truth to it. On a treadmill, I walk between 3.2 and 3.5 mph. How fast do you walk? BTW, it's not because I have short legs - I am 5'9"!

I walk 3.0--after running, on a TM I can go 3.5.

I know someone who walks as fast as I run. Now that is fast (her walking, not my running).

I'm 5'4"

When I walk on my TM I go (after warmup) 4.2-4.5 MPH. My daughter was just telling me in Vegas last weekend that I walk too fast! When I started out on the TM 3.8 was fast and hard for me. After the 1/2 in January and once I added running in intervals walking faster got much easier.

Outside I usually average roughly 4 MPH when averaged. For some reason I tend to slow down once in a while if I forget to keep up my pace. It usually averages 4.0 though, sometimes a bit faster.

Thanks for the answers. I guess I am at the low end of the range but maybe not too slow. On the treadmill, I usually do 3.5 with at least a 5% incline. Outside it averages about 3.2 and I have several hills. I hate the treadmill and try to walk outside whenever I can.

On the treadmill I do 4.5, varying the incline from 0 to 5% during the walk.

People always tell me I walk too fast, but it's my comfortable pace. I'm 5'5" and my DH is 6'3", but my comfortable walking pace is faster than his. I think everyone is just different. The important thing is to just keep moving! :cool1:
