My husband & I are waiting to Buy our first DVC share. We want to wait for BLT, but I'm also wanting to pay in cash sometime late next summer. Do you think there will still be avail.? I know many are waiting for this to go on sale, but how long is too long to purchase? HELP!!!princess:

There are 300 or so rooms there. It will still be on sale. The slow economy is not going to help. Save your money and pay in cash!

It will depend almost entirely on the pricing.

If they price around the current level of $96 per point, they could be gone in a year. But if, as some rumors suggest, the price goes up 20-30%, it will undoubtedly take longer.

DVC doesn't usually comment on sales are progressing, but in the past posters here have been able to track the public information websites and approximate sales levels. Check back every so often and you may get a better idea.

Assuming they begin selling before the end of this year, you can expect to see contracts hitting the resale market in late-2009 / early-2010. If your goal is to pay cash, you would have little trouble getting a contract via those avenues.

Thanks! That makes me feel better. DH said if it was not avail., then it wasn't meant to be, but, boy I really would love it!

There have been AKV resales on the market for a while. Some BLT buyers will either change their mind or have major life changes that will require selling their BLT points. In reality, there will be points available whenever you are ready.

By rough estimates there are going to be between $300-400 million worth of points to be sold at BLT, there will be plenty left in a year, especially in this economy.

Believe it or not, big luxury purchases like timeshares seem to be relatively immune from economic woes. Speaking in DVC terms, BCV sold at a pretty brisk pace back in 2002/2003 when we were still struggling to recover from 9/11. IIRC, they managed to sell all 200+ rooms in around 13 months.

And that was also a point where DVC was a lot less mainstream than it is today. Marketing wasn't nearly as plentiful and there were about half as many existing members to which they could solicit for add-ons.

Should be fun to watch even for those not interested in buying.
