How far out to book a Cat 3?

I was wondering how far in advance you have to book to get a catagory 3? I did not see any on the disney cruise line site. Do you have to call to reserve one? Thanks.

You must call to reserve Cat. 1 - 3 suites. Sometimes, they sell out quickly. However, there seem to be frequent cancellations, so if at first you don't succeed, keep trying.

Thanks for the information. I checked to upgrade on our cruise on Oct 15th but they were full. ( There were actually only 4 rooms left on the ship). They put us on a wait list. Maybe something will come through.

Our cruise in Sept. is almost full too. I called to see if I could get upgraded from a 10 to a 9. But they said the only cabins that were available were category 3. And we are sailing in just a few weeks. So I think it depends on the luck of the draw.

We checked on an upgrade to cat 3 for the Oct 15 cruise in early July. At that time they had 5 cat 3's available. Upgrade cost was nearly $3500 for our family of 4. I was going to wait to upgrade at the port and hope for a lower price, but one the 5 cat 3's availiable at the time was a "midship" cat 3 with the triple wide verandah. I went ahead and splurged, since I've heard that these are so nice.

Now that I hear the ship is full, I think I made the right decision.

Don't put too much faith in DCL's waitlists. If you want the upgrade, I would try calling them periodically and checking for availability. We were waitlisted for a suite on the 11-day southern caribbean. I waited for the call for 3 weeks. I then asked the TA next door if she could get one, She immediately found a cat 3 available for her to book. I took it. I wish I had spoken to her sooner!

DCL did call 3 days later to tell me my name had come up on the waitlist. They didn't know I had already booked a suite through my TA.

Looking forward to the Oct. 15 eastern! Only 7 weeks to go!
