How far is Tampa from WDW?

Can't catch a break on airfare on Spirit from Atlantic City to Orlando (almost $800 for 3 of us). However, I'm coming in under $600 if we fly into Tampa. How long of a drive is it (we'll have a rental car)?

From TPA to WDW you can do it in about 1 1/2 hours or less. Traffic can be a bit of a pain, you'd think it would thin out once out of Tampa but every time we'd driven it the road is packed.

We just drove from the area to Tampa on a Saturday morning. Heavy traffic, but not slow, except for the durn rubberneckers watching a roadside cleanup---and that only added maybe 15 minutes or so.

"Gawrsh! An accident! Let's slow down to look!"

Give yourself some extra time to get back, but you should be fine. I wouldn't do a TPA roundtrip to save $100, but I would to save $200. Go for it.

It's about 85 miles. Just look out for the frequent road construction.

We prefer coming and going out of Tampa. The drive isn't bad and the airport is WAY less hassle than Orlando. Most of the rental cars are right there at the terminal - no shuttle needed. We did this last spring and we'll be doing it again in Oct. And fares are usually cheaper!
