How far is Sanford from WDW?

Some of us in the Northeast are considering Allegiant Air out of Worcester, MA. They fly into Sanford. Any WDW shuttles from Sanford, or just from MCO?

I'm going to have to figure out if the cost of a rental car is worth the drive from Sanford. Has anyone done this? Advice?

Thanks!

It's about an hour. No shuttles, and town cars/cabs are close to double the cost.

We flew into Sanford last summer. The drive to WDW took about 45 minutes. Sanford airport was great. No crowds, easy to get around. The time we saved in the airport made up for the slightly longer drive. There are several rental car companies on sight. There were no lines for baggage or rental cars. Everything was very easy. The only problem we encountered was a delayed flight when returning home. The plane was at the airport and ready to go but the weather didn't allow takeoff. They notified us of the weather delay and kept everyone in the terminal instead of sitting in the plane on the runway. We were very satisfied. We have flown into Orlando and it is a very nice airport. Sanford is smaller, easier, more personal and for us quite a bit cheaper.

Aligiant offers a $21.00 pp shuttle each way to the LBV area. If you are not a large group, it may be a more cost effective way of getting to Disney than a rental.

It's about an hour from Sanford to Disney via SR417. A very easy drive.

Cranbiz-when you say 'the LBV area', can you be more specific? Would we need to get a taxi or something from somewhere in LBV? The shuttle doesn't go to each resort?

Thanks for the info!

"Allegiant Air" is an airlines, they are not licensed to do ground transportation. For a list of the transportation companies that are approved by "The Sanford Airport Authority" to pick up from the Orlando Sanford International Airport, you can go to this website> http://orlandosanfordairport.com/taxi_limo_shuttle.asp

Answer to the original thread question: It's about 55 miles (using Hwy 417), give or take a couple miles depending on which Disney hotel you are going to. Highway 417, you can figure an approximate 55-60 minute drive time.
