...from DL? drive time? cab fare?

I'm thinking it's roughly 45 minutes away, but that does not account one iota for L.A. traffic. Traffic alone could turn it into a 2 or 3 hour jaunt.

pasadena is big anywhere in particular??? i'd rent a car for the day cause it would be cheaper than a cab.

I might be going to a 3 day conference in Sept and we'll be staying at the Hilton. That's all I know!

It's certainly close enough if you could arrive a few days earlier and/or stay a day or so later, but assuming the conference runs from roughly 9:00am to 5:00pm give or take, plan on at least 2 hours to get to Disneyland from Pasadena. In February, I was able to visit the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, which isn't too far from Pasadena. While we left at 8:00am, traffic caused us to arrive at the studios at 10:45am. We left Burbank at 3:00pm and arrived back at Disneyland at 5:00pm. That's a 30-45 minute trip in no traffic, but traffic is another matter altogether.

You could get lucky and have lighter traffic, but I would not count on it.

2 hours??? What freeway did you take?

Pasadena is east of LA by the foothills. 2 hours is a very long time if you take the wrong freeway and are traveling during rush hour. A friend of mine commutes daily from Fullerton to USC and it doesnt' take him that long and the traffic is worse to USC.

First dont' take a cab, its too expensive.

Second...when are you going to DL? During the conference or after?

Third: If you rent a car from Pasadena try these routes but keep in mind during rush hour traffic...its awful. Also you said "we" so utilize the freeways with a carpool lane. The Hilton is on Los Robles near the Paseo (shopping area). The freeway entrance is off of Marengo or Lake. Los Robles is between both streets. So either take 210 East to 605 South to 5 South. There is an HOV lane on the 210 and 605. The one on the 5 starts at the LA/OC border. There's a dedicated exit off the 5 carpool to Disneyland parking structure. Another alternative if the 605 is heavy but the 210 isn't is to take 210east to 57 south. Exit Ball Rd and turn right and it will take you all the way to Disneyland. We live 10 minutes east of the 57 and it takes us 25 minutes to get to DL. We utilize the HOV lane and we don't take it during rush hour.

You will actually enjoy Pasadena because you are near everything. The Hilton is within walking distance of Old Town, Paseo Pasadena and Lake Ave. People in LA dont' walk but people in Pasadena do walk and its a very very very nice area. There is also a light rail off the 210 freeway that can take you to Downtown LA Union Station. There are links from there to either take a train, subway or other light rail to various destinations.

I drove from Disneyland to Universal Studios on a Sunday afternoon last fall (was attending a conference at the Sheraton). I thought it would take less than an hour, it ended up being 90 minutes with traffic on I-5.

Mapquest is saying 35 miles, 43 minutes from Disneyland to Pasadena. That does not take into account traffic.

A rule I use when calculating times is: if you're driving during morning or afternoon commuter rush, double the time that you will see on Mapquest or another mapping service.

Rule of thumb coming from a former commuter to and from LA and Irvine (south of DL)....NEVER...I mean NEVER take I5.
