How long of a drive is it from Ft. Myers to Tampa, Orlando or Ft. Lauderdale? We are trying to lessen the cost of a Southwest flight for a trip to Ft. Myers. Thank you!

From Tampa to Ft. Myers it's about 2 hours.

Ft Myers to Ft lauderdale would probably be a little under 2 hours as well.

Orlando's about an hour away from Tampa, so Ft Myers should be about 3 hours from Orlando.

You can add West Palm Beach into the mix, it would be probably 3 hours too.

I am visiting my grandparents in Fort Myers and then we are going to Disney. It is a 3 hour drive. I booked SW for 49 from Fort Myers to Orlando and saw they have dings for 30. For us it was cheaper to book a flight so that we didn't have to pay for a rental for one day.

We flew to Orlando and drove to Naples (just south of Fort Myers) this February to save on airfare. About a 3 hour drive, but that included at least one bathroom and food break (my mother can't stand a long drive without a break).

We flew into Tampa last Feb & drove to Fort Myers because of price. The drive was only about 2hrs & we didn't hit any traffic. It was on a Sat.

I often do the fly into Tampa and drive to Fort Myers. It's about 2 hours to downtown Fort Myers and add 30 min. to Fort Myers beach (just really due to traffic). But it's a fabulous drive, especially on a brilliant sunny day!

My brother lives in Ft. Myers, and we have lots of experience driving from Ft. Myers to Orlando. It depends where in Ft. Myers you are beginning and where you are going in Orlando. It takes about 5 hours for us to make the trip from my brother's house to Disneyworld. He lives about 20-30 minutes from the Ft. Myers airport. This is actual trip time from experience, and takes into account things like traffic flow and necessary bathroom breaks. It is not a theoretical number based one presumptions like you will not get caught in any traffic jams or not need to stop for any reason.

I agree with the last post. It is more like 4-5 hours. From Tampa to Disney it is about 1 1/2-2 hours. I have made the trip on many many times.

Due to weather in New England in February, we had to fly into Tampa rather than Ft Myers. We landed at TPA at around 11:30, were in our rental car and on the road by a little after midnight.

We rolled into my parent's driveway in Bonita Springs (between Ft Myers and Naples) at 3:20am. No stops, no traffic.
