How far in advance should I join Connections?

I am starting to make my PS and meal plans. I've been putting it off because I don't want to jump the gun and order too much or too little. Would you wait a while before joining and purchasing the vouchers? Would you order a few extra than you have specific plans for, just in case? Not sure if there is any reason to get them right now. Thanks!
