We are planning to go 2/27-3/6 and stay at the CBR. Do you book now or just wait until the new rates for 2010 come out?? :confused3

TIA! :goodvibes

Hi. I would wait until rates came out unless I really wanted something that ws in short supply. We booked the Family Suite at ASMu in April 2008 for January 09 because there's only 175 of them.

If you need a regular room, then waiting until rates are out would ensure that your deposit was based on reality!

We always book at the end of our trip for the same time the next year.
That gives us a year to make sure we have the trip, and airfare paid off with cash, and spending money set aside. No credit used for our trips.
Since you don't have to pay it off until 45 days out, you can also take advantage of any promotions that come out after you book.

We tend to book 3 - 6 months in advance but we're okay with not getting our "first choice" of place to stay / room type, etc. :)

I think I will book now because we like to make periodic payments. Last vacation we booked 6 months out and made about 5-6 payments.

I can call and make a package and add on the dining plan and tickets later right?

Thanks!

Usually I book our family when the deals come out for the general time we are looking. Last year we did a bounce back a year later for the Dining plan. This has been torture for me, a whole year of waiting for the trip. When I have used Kathy from Magical Journeys in the past (great person) if a better deal came out later at a better rate, she and Disney have always given us the better rate and brought it down, so booking early is good IF you can stand the WAITING. My two cents

I KILLS me to wait almost a whole year, but I am a planner and I have to have everything set or I worry about it. I am really considering going ahead and booking bounce back while we are there this time rather than paying rack rate. We always travel at Thanksgiving and everthing is holiday prices.

When I booked last year for our trip this past March there were no codes. When the 4/3 deal came out I just called Disney back and they added it to reservation and gave me the new price.

I'm hoping I get a code this time too! :goodvibes

I book as soon as I know our dates...and then sit around waiting for discounts to come down!

If you book your room now with a deposit and the price goes up-- are you not price protected? you have to pay any difference???

How about if you booked the room now-- and wanted to add a package- does the room only need to be cancelled first?

My family and I like to book months in advance so we can get exactly what we want and we always book once next years rates have been released.

Right now I would book a room only and have to pay (I believe this is how it goes) for one night. The highest price of this year.

Then when prices come out I can call them and add on the tickets and the dining plan.

Am I right? :confused3

Generally 5-8 months out - shortest has been 3 weeks and longest 12 months. This year we're going three times - one was made 4 months in advance, one three weeks and the last one was 7 months out.

We book as soon as we know our dates. When I booked a room only back in 2006 they charged me the highest rate for one nights deposit. When the new rates became available I then had to call and cancel my original room only and make a package reservation. They then credited by bank account back the original deposit and I had to pay the $200 deposit for the package. I was guaranteed before I canceled my room only that I would not lose my room. But like I said that was back in 2006 so maybe they changed their policy. It would be nice if we didn't have to cancel the room only and just switch it to a package.

As soon as the new rates come out we make our reservations. We book with DU and they keep an eye out if any deals come out that will reduce the cost and let us know. We are always on the look out for specials also.

That sounds like a PIA. LOL I hate waiting for the credit back.

We've never had to put more than a $200.00 deposit down.
We do that with either a credit card, or debit card.
If we use a credit card, we pay it as soon as the bill comes in, using our left over vacation money.
