How far in advance do you book air?

When do you find that you get the best airfare bargains when you are buying air for your cruise? Also, considering that you have a certain window to cancel the cruise without penalty, does that affect when you buy airfare?

If I'm not using an award ticket for travel I wait for sales. I NEVER buy a ticket more than 6 months in advance unless there is a GREAT fare or if my preferred flighs are booking up. Typically it is about 3-4 months in advance when I get them. That is when airlines tend to reduce fares based on their projections. I just got tickets for early December in late September.
