How far from SSR model rooms is the boat dock?

We will be at OKW next week (no car) and would like to see the SSR model rooms (# 2607) that are open from 5 - 7pm. Does anyone know how far these rooms are from the SSR boat dock? My mom will be with us and can't walk very far.

It is a good hike from the dock to the models, or any rooms for that matter. I'd guess a 10 minute walk. There is a bus stop right in front of the building. Maybe you could take a bus to DD and get on a SSR bus, or stop on the way back from a park.

I would think they could just walk to the preview center and then have them use one of those spiffy golf carts for her.

I would try to get to the models via bus. As stated, the boat dock is quite a hike from the models. And, I have my doubts as to whether or not you would be able to grab a golf cart. My understanding is that the 5-7pm preview window for current members was designed to steer us away from normal business hours at the Preview Center. I just think it would be a mistake to pin your hopes on finding a DVC Guide willing and able to ferry you to and from the model rooms.

Take the bus to get to SSR, and then plan to be flexible for the return trip. If someone is able to give you a ride, take the boat back. If not, make another bus trip.

The models are located in the building closest to the boat dock. It's about 400 yards (it's a similar distance from the models to the front desk area).

The boat runs from OKW every 30 minutes from 4pm-11pm and every hour from 11am-4pm.

Buses run to DD from OKW every 20 minutes - you could get off at the first DD stop (Marketplace) and walk to the models (about 600 yards) or catch a bus to SSR - get off at the Congress Park bust stop and it's about 50 yards across the parking lot to the models.

Or you can take the boat and you can take a casual stroll from the boat dock to the Carriage House where along the way you can see Artists Pallate, Hot Springs Pool and front desk. Walk to the front of the carriage house and hop any bus that comes by. The carriage house is near the Hot Springs Pool. It has a sign that says Temporary Bus Stop but all the buses pass there to go to the SSR bus stop and will stop for anyone waiting there.

The model rooms are in Congress Park.

Buses go by frequently so the wait is usually short.

when you check in at the front desk - ask for a wheelchair (they have them) - then push your mom ever where - especially when she gets tired - otherwise use to store your stuff.

they fold up so carrying them around is not a problem

the boat took wheelchairs before - so I am assuming they still do - the problem at OKW - is finding the wheelchair route....
