Anyone from or know how far it is to Half Moon Bay from DL. I hear dit is beautiful there, I have some friends that bought a house there and would like to go there on my trip next year. TIA :)

I'll let the Californians comment, but if you visit, you should consider driving direct one way (6-8 hours) & the other way going the coast road (PCH).

Half Moon is 40-50 miles south of San Fran on the coast (maybe 30 miles north of Monterey). The PCH from Half Moon all the way down to Morro Bay is mind blowingly beautiful. If it was me:

- One way up to Half Moon (the quick way).
- Spend time with buddy seeing all the sights (including greater Monterey area).
- Then one day drive (including Big Sur / Hearst Castle / Cambria)
- Either Stay in Cambria or SLO
- Second day Cambria to Morro Bay to SLO to Pismo to SB to DL.

If you really wanted to do it right, stay one night in Cambria & the second in Pismo. Make 20+ stops seeing my favorite part of Cal. (The Central Coast).

Have fun. :thumbsup2

if your driving depending on how fast you drive it can be 6-8 hour long drive.
like the poster above said Half moon Bay is near San Francisco9 northern California and Anaheim is souther California. and it's really small and pretty not much to it.

I love HMB, it is very pretty there but it is very small and not much to *do*. If you're looking to visit and relax then it will be great and you will love it. HMB is a place my DBF and I go to walk the beaches, it's about an hour South of us towards SF, Anaheim is about 6 hours South also but a different direction South. For you from Anaheim it would be about the same, 6 hours. If you can make the trip do it, you won't regret it.

The drive along the 101 to Southern California is gorgeous and if you do it, I recommend stopping off in San Luis Obispo for lunch and a little break to stretch your legs. Half Moon Bay is a gorgeous quaint town with a great state beach.

If you can't make it to Half Moon Bay this year, try visiting next October. They have an annual Pumpkin festival that is a lot of fun. There is a parade, a huge pumpkin contest, and lots of great food and shopping.
