Seriously debating flying out of BUffalo, how far is the airport from the border?

If you go over the Peace Bridge, it is only 20-ish minutes. We fly out of Buffalo regularly now and love it. It's so easy, the airport is well-run, clean and the parking is terrific. We've never waited for a shuttle as they are constantly roaming the parking lots looking for people arriving. I'd recommend it if only for the savings - we are flying BUF-MCO in September for $360 return for all three of us!

We went over in Fort Erie and from Newmarket to the airport was 2.5 hours so about 40 minutes from bridge.

Loved Buffalo airport - much smaller and easy to get around. Nice restaurants in the airport and loved not having to do customs at the airport.

I agree ... with no traffic delays 20 min's from the Peace Bridge:thumbsup2

We are flying out of Buffalo this Aug. it will be our 5 time flying from there. I can't say enough good things about the whole experience. From the cost ( about 1000$ Canadian for 6 people return) , the size and cleaniness of the airport ( you can walk to the terminal from all lot of the parking), no customs at the airport and my kids love their little play areas ( Fisher Price toys to play on ) .

I agree about 20 minutes from the Peace Bridge though I would also suggest calling the bridge info line before crossing the border, it will let you know all the wait times at the bridges undated every hour so you know what you are looking at for bridge wait times. The number is 1-800-715-6722. You didn't mention where you are coming from but make sure if you are using a GPS to get to the border make sure it is set for the specific bridge you are going to cross or it will probably direct you across the Queenston-Lewiston bridge and then you have to cross Grand Island and there is a toll for that bridge too.

Make sure you bring you Disney documents with you and your boarding passes too, we went to Disney last September and the guy at the Peace Bridge asked us for proof of our trip dates....thank goodness with had all our documents ready, a simple print out of the Disney confirmation and our Southwest boarding passes was good for him. Good luck!

Good tips! We also have been asked for our itineraries on past trips at the border. As for border wait times, we always check the website just prior to leaving that morning just in case...I didn't know there was a phone number. I like the website because you can have the page loading while doing last minutes like brushing teeth, etc...

Is it quicker to cross over in Niagara Falls or Fort Erie? We are in Hamilton & always drive to Fort Erie? I thought the airport was about 15 mins from Fort Erie last time we went. PP said it was 40 mins from the peace bridge in Fort Erie & I don't remember it taking that long?

My first choice to cross for the airport would be Peace Bridge. I would only choose Niagara Falls if there was an issue at Peace Bridge and Queenston-Lewiston as a last resort, especially in the daytime because there always seems to be delays. We rarely have much if any wait at Peace Bridge.

I would take the Peace Bridge. Fort Erie/Buffalo at the end of the Q.E.W.

I cross at Fort Erie, but I go 190 to the 90 and then north. Probably because we always went that way to get to Galleria Mall, etc. when we went on shopping trips. We tend to stay at the Hampton Inn a lot, so I was always used to going that way. I find it's easily only 20 minutes from the border if that!

We go the same way connorsmom911 - prob. same Galleria reason as well! Find it a very easy and direct way...

I totally agree with the OPs. We love Peace Bridge. You can check their link before you leave at www.peacebridge.com We did Queenston Lewiston once. We were stuck at the border for 1 1/2 hour and it was only a regular summer day. Never again.

We always cross at Fort Erie and I would say its closer to ten minutes than twenty.

It took us 15 mins tops the last time & we had no map, no GPS, no nothing, just followed the signs. It was 11 am on a Saturday as well in Nov.

It's 10 to 20 minutes from the Peace Bridge once you get across.

If there's an issue with the Peace Bridge, AVOID the Queenston/Lewiston bridge like the plague - take the Rainbow Bridge instead (just follow the 420 into Niagara Falls - it's basically right down town) - no trucks allowed on that bridge, and the wait time is always significantly less than the Queenston/Lewiston Bridge - and the border guards are generally more 'easy going' as well! Us "Niagara natives" only use the Queenston/Lewiston as a last resort!
