How Far From Disney is Nick?

Helllo there,
I was wondering how far it is from Disney to the Nick hotel? We are going to Disney June 2007 (far, far away :smooth: ) and were not going to rent a car as we are staying on side at WDW. My kids are huge Nick fans and I thought it would be neat to stay there for one night as a surprise at the end of our journey. How much would a cab be from Disney to Nick and does Nick have shuttles to the airport or is that a cab ride as well? :confused3

Thank you very much,
K

They have free shuttles to WDW, but not to the airport. I think if you call the hotel they can give you an estimate of the cab cost to the airport though.

Cabs can be too way pricey from Disney to the Airport. I will sugest that you research for a cheap alternative. If you go by the meeter, at least $60.00 would have to be the cost. So try to get a cab for less than $40 dollars.

Stayed there in October.Nick to downtown disney just a few miles. Nick sits on 536 just south of I-4 so its not far at all.

If you're staying onsite at Disney and just moving to Nick your last night, I would look into renting a car for that last night. You can get one at either the Car Care Center or some of the DTD hotels and return it to the airport. One night probably won't be much more than a cab ride if you can find a discount.

Hi!
We are at Nick right now!! We took a cab to magic kingdom for $20 today.

I'd love a Nick update when you get back. Is the food good? Did you do a character meal? Worth it or not? Things like that..... :earboy2:

Me 2, Me 2!!! I want to hear all about it and if you have any pics that would be great too!

Happy New Year from Nick Hotel!!
This place is awesome for the kids! We are extremely happy!
I was worried about the food because of the reviews but we have thought it is good. We did do the character breakfast yesterday (New Year's Eve). It was $17 for adults and $10 for kids. It was fun. SpongeBob,Patrick, Fairly Odd parents, and Dora were there. Good interaction. The food was good. Lots of fruit, eggs, bacon, sausage, panckes, pancakes with chocolate chips, waffles, donuts, bagels, cereals, grits, fried potatoes, chocolate pudding, applesauce. They also cooked eggs, omelets. They cook the pancakes fresh also. I thought it was worth the money.
We had pizza hut which tasted like every other pizza hut! Salads from the sub and salad were fresh. Hot dogs and chicken fingers and fries were good from A&W. The only thing I didn't really like was the chicken sandwich from A&W. It tasted like a microwaved chicken patty. We ordered room service for dinner last night. It arrived in about 35 min. The sirloin strip steak was very good. It came with salad, vegis, baked potato. All very tasty. Cost $22. Chicken breast was also good. Cost $16. Chocolate cake was delicious according to dh and kids! It had the little chocolate drizzles on the plate also.
The hotel is very clean and surprizingly quiet in the rooms! We have a 3 bedroom which is wonderful! The kids' room is small and the bunk beds are not full size twin. They are smaller. There are only 2 small drawers. But the kids are happy. The kids love the pools and slides. There is also putt-putt, basketball, pingpong, shuffleboard. And of course the games! They do games at the pools several times a day. They pick some kids to participate. My ds got to do a trivia and my dd did a pass the pie. Neither have been pied or slimed though. They also have shows in the evening. They choose a couple of families per show between 3-4pm at the pool. We have not gotten picked or seen the show. We did see the SpongeBob Christmas show which was very good!
We did try the free bus transportation back from magic kingdom on the 30th. It took 40 minutes. It stopped at all other disney parks on the way here. Also you take the monorail to the bus area at mk. then walk to bus area. We didn't know but you find the number of the bus you want out in the parking lot and wait for your bus. (new to us!) If you use this free service be sure to be on time or early because the bus driver did not wait long at each stop. By the way, our taxi to MK was about 10-12 minutes. We took a taxi to Universal today and it was $25.
Let me know any questions you have and I'll try to answer! We will be here until next weekend!!

P.S. Even my 82 year old father is having a blast here!! Except he only wanted to ride the Mummy once!

I am so happy to read your review!!! We will be going on a much needed trip April 2-7 to Nick Hotel. We just can't wait. I feel so much better hearing you say the food is edible...we will have a 2 bedroom...what characters do you have in your room? We requested Fairly Oddparents...I would love to see any pics you could upload when you get home...or heck, while you are there! lol...Have you tried the Kids Eat Free buffet yet? How was that? Anything other tips you could give us for a great time? Thanks so much!!!

We were there 2 yrs ago in April and 2 yrs before that. We have never had any issues with the food there - in fact, we liked it, so I am always surprised here when I read how horrible some people say it is. The buffet has a large variety and the eating area is clean. Hope that helps ease some concerns. :)The hotel is HUGE, so it can take some time to get from point a to point B, but all in all we have enjoyed our stay every time we have been there. The hotel staff has always been amazing and helpful and the pools are incredible! (And to think that was before they switched over to Nick!! :) )

I am thinking since it is so huge I should request a room close to a pool?? My dh has MS and has a lot of mobility issues. We will have an ECV with us, but would first floor by a pool be easiest? What pool if so? Thanks!!!
Tracy

I think I would definitely call the hotel and make this request. I don't know which pool, but they would help you figure that out. They are so helpful and would definitely do what they could to answer your questions and put you in a spot that would be best for you. :)

Thanks so much for your help! I am just so excited. We haven't told the kids yet and don't plan on telling them at all. WE are just telling them we are going on a road trip! lol...Ought to be fun. My dh's brother is going to drive down at the same time to help me out and be there in case something happens to dh. I am going to call them in just a second. How am I ever gonna survive until April????

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Nick hotel!!!! We have been there twice now, once this past October and last April just before the "official" grand opening as Nick in May. It is super fun!!!! Our rooms were themed Fairly Oddparents first time and Sponge Bob second time...my boys were THRILLED! We got a first floor room pool side, FABULOUS. There are 2 pools...the main pool with the big dumping thingie and zero entry is the better IMO. The other pool is deeper and has better slides for older kids I guess. That pool also has the afternoon poolside show (where my kids and hubby got slimed), but we really only went over there for that show. The rooms are very comfortable...love having 3 different TVs, kids loved having their own room. Kitchenette we don't use but nice to have it for those that do. The game room is AWESOME, that whole area they call the "mall" is great....free bingo, free night time shows, free karaoke. The character breakfast I agree very worth it. Lots of dancing with the characters, good food. This October the restaurant was all new and re-done since last April and I thought the buffet was very awesome! Kids eat FREEEEEEEEE. VERY great! They now have a "nick at night" bar in the back of the mall. Also free is a 5 x 7 photo of your family. You sign up in the mall for a time and they take a photo for you! New this oct. was that they give you wristbands which you must wear at all times because they had problems with people coming over to use the facilities from other hotels. Not a bad idea really...but if your Brohter in law not staying there you will need to know that you will have a problem having him at the pool...or just add an adult to your room at check in...shouldn't cost any more (i dont think) and you will get the wrist band that way. Nick hotel is VERY close to Disney..right down the street from Epcot area hotels like the swan/dolphin on the other side of the highway. They do have shuttles to all the parks. Not sure what the fare would be to the airport..I always rent a car. The rates are cheap enough for a small car that it would cost the same as getting a shuttle for the most part, and then you are on your own schedule.
You will have a WONDERFUL time!!!!! My kids ask almost daily when we are going back to the Nick hotel!!!! They have yanked up the rates for spring break...that would be my negative. JAMA I am very jealous and have a GREAT time there this week!!!!!!!!!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE the place! Have fun!!!!

Yeah, I noticed about hte rates being up...BIL is staying with us if he can stand it, so I have already added him to our room number. I did get the room for $200 a night but would be happier to be spending around the $150 mark...still I just can't wait. Thanks for the pool info I am going to call today and put that request in! Appreciate it!

How fun! Your kids will be SOOOOO excited!! I wish I could keep it a secret from our kids, but we have to fly to FL so that's not really an option. LOL!

Do you need to make reservations for the character breakfast? If so, who do you call and how far in advance? Thanks!
