How far can you borrow?

Hello everyone,

I have 220 points that will renew in June. I am planning to rent 123 of those points for November. I am planning to plan a trip for my family in July with the remaining 97. To enhance my resort options I would like to borrow a few of my points from June 2019. Would I be able to do this or do I have to wait until June of next year to borrow from 2019? I appreciate your feedback.

A July 2018 trip would fall in your June 2018 UY. You can use banked 2017 points, current 2018 points or borrow from 2019. You can borrow the points when you make the reservation.

No. You just book the reservation at 11 months out for home resort or seven months out for non-home resort. IF, you haven't sold the points yet when you make the reservation, it may not allow you to borrow. So you could make a dummy reservation with those points, then you would be able to borrow. Then cancel the dummy reservation.

What use year are your 220 points from?
Are they current points? If so they need to be used for trips between 6/1/2017 and 5/31/2018. You can use those 2017 points for the July and November 2018 trips - you just need to bank them first and you must bank them before the last 4 months of your use year.
If you don't have any 2017 points and will first get points 6/1/2018, then yes you can use them for your July and Nov. trips and you can borrow 2019 points as well.
Use year doesn't have any effect on when you can book, it is important in terms of which years points you can use for any specific booking.

When you can book has nothing at all to do with UY. Every UY can book at 11 months out for their home resort and 7 months our for all other resorts and every UY can used banked, current or borrowed points for those bookings. For your November trip you could have booked at the corresponding 11 month date this December. With a June UY, booking a November 2018 trip you could use banked 2017 points, current 2018 points (valid for stays June 1, 2018-May 31, 2019) or you could borrow points from your 2019 UY. You can book now and use any of those points.
