How far ahead do you book?

We are looking at booking a 3 night trip in mid March, Thurs-Sun. They list this as a 'peak season' so I was wondering how far in advance should we book? Is it common for the Fort to get filled up this time of year?

The reason I am asking is this will be our 2nd camping trip- our 1st trip is already scheduled for next month and I was thinking that by waiting until after that we might be a little more educated as to what we want for a site.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

We always book as soon as we know our dates. I would book now, then call with a loop request after your visit.

Yes, always book, then you can change them later & put your requests in. I have already booked my May & November trip next year.

We always book just as soon as we are fairly certain of when we're going - the sooner the better, especially during peak times. One year I tried booking Thanksgiving weekend in January and couldn't get it. Since then I've been booking pretty much right at the 499 day mark. It only takes one night's fee to hold a reservation and the cancellation policy is pretty liberal.
