How exspensive is the Candy at Honeydukes?

In regards to the chocolate frogs, when were were there on January 4th, the cost per item was $14.95 (not $10). They were listed as being in limited edition boxes (never been there before then, so I have no idea what the "regular" packaging is like).

I know I'm not crazy, because we ended up chatting with another family that evening in the hotel pool who had visited WWoHP the day before, and they were commenting on the same thing ("$14.95 for a chocolate frog! :scared1: Can you believe it?!?"). Perhaps it was because we visited during the Christmas/New Year holiday season?

Here's a pic of the frogs that were being sold on the date of our visit:

Thank you for the information on the frogs!

and I really want to thank you Gina for posting pictures of HoneyDukes - very helpful in the planning stage!! :worship:

I did mention to DD that Jelly Belly had chocolate frogs with the cards - she said it sounded like a good road trip - she likes jelly belly as much as dh! :rotfl2: and with Valentine's Day coming - sounds good to go!

Now I'll have pictures to add to our information packet!

now I just wish they sold butterbeer to go in a bottle - I can just imagine the things dd would bring for her gf!

Choc frgs were $10 .The glass Jars of Honeydukes candy( like Sherbert Lemons) were $12.95 and the plain bars of Honeydukes chocolates were $4.50

I have to know how the cauldron cakes taste. And if they'll last for a 3-4hr bus ride (unless it is SO good that I eat it on the way) since I might be kind enough to bring one back for my brother, who may or may not go.

I also watched a video of Honeydukes and noticed that the only cauldron cakes I saw were inside the glass case. Do they sell them pre-packaged too?

Also, I'd like to see pics of the other sweets available.

TIA!!

The chocolate frog tastes like dollar store chocolate to me..... but the boxes and the cards are awesome!!:thumbsup2 We did pay approx. 10 bucks per frog,

The $14.95 chocolate frogs had the same packaging but with a special edition Dumbledore card inside of them. The regular chocolate frogs are $9.95 and have a card with one of the four Hogwarts founders :)

The cauldron cakes are really good!! They're chocolate with a mousse-like center and a solid chocolate handle. It's kind of fragile, though- not sure if it would last the bus ride, but you could try! They con't come prepackaged.

Also- can anyone tell me how Rock Cake and Treacle Fudge taste? Those are next on my to-eat list :D

i thought the cauldron cake was dry tasting.
on the line of hostess cup cake type of taste.

i took it back to my room and had it that evening.
i love chocolate but this didn't hit the spot due to the dryness.

When I was there for the Film Celebration in November and they were letting us in to the WWoHP at 6 AM, I had a couple of breakfasts of rock cake and pear cider from Honeydukes. Rock Cake is very similar to a scone with sugar crystals on top. It's sweet but not overly so. But if you like scones you should like rock cake.

The treacle fudge is sweet. I've never been a huge fan of treacle in general but it's not too bad in the fudge, just extremely sweet.

It sounds yummy! Ever since first hearing about them in th stories I'd always wanted to try a Cauldron Cake.

What exactly is in the treacle fudge? I saw that in the video I watched but wasn't sure about it. Looked kind of questionable :scared:.

Treacle is sort of like molasses. I don't think there is an American term for it, but molasses would be the closest. It's like a really sweet sugar syrup.

When we were there in November, you were able to fill Bernie Botts beans in a pink striped plastic bag that said "Honeydukes" on it. It might not be as fun as the circus box, but I saw one lady with 20 or 25 bags that she had filled. We filled several bags to bring back to friends.

Just got back yesterday from Universal.

They only had the $14.95 Chocolate Frogs in the parks.

The Every Flavor Beans were $10.95.

They were completely sold out of the chocolate wands. I asked and was told the Ministry was having trouble keeping up with the demand.

I didn't buy any candy but we had a great time looking through the stores.

Whoever told you that you can get candy at Honeydukes for $6 a pound and $3 a half pound was WRONG. I didn't go back through the posts yet to find the person who said that, but just so you know OP. Honeydukes candy id $13 a pound or $6.48 per half pound. For $3.24 you can get 4 ounces of candy or you can buy an 8 ounce novelty box of Jelly Beans for 10.95.

I was in there Friday and today and got some Every Flavor Jelly Beans and it was $14 for a little over one pound. Very small bag of beans. Outrageously expensive.

I don't know where the $10 Chocolate frogs are in the store because the big display of Chocolate frogs I saw were $14.95.

Bertie Botts every flavor beans are $10 in the little boxes but if you ask on of the employees, you can get Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans in 1/2 pound bag for $3.00 or a 1 pound bag for $6.00. The box doesn't even come with 1/4 of the amount of the half pound bag. If you don't care about the look of the box, it is way cheaper just to get some in a bag.

THIS is wrong. It is $13 a pound or $6.48 per HALF POUND. The $3 bag is 4 ounces.

Wow, that pricing for the 1/2 pounds and pounds of candy sounds ridiculous. I think I might be better off buying the circus top box (I want one anyway, I'm a Potter fan)

Are there any other treats you could recommend? And their prices? Thanks!

Maybe they have not yet sold out of the limited edition $15 frogs. Either that or it is still the holidays to them, so they can mark it up. I hope they wil have the $10 ones when I go. I will not spend $15 on a Chocolate Frog just because it is limited edition and has a Dumbledore card in it.

While I'm thinking about the Chocolate Frogs, do you think they'd last the bus ride?
