How exactly does "baby swap" work?

I have 3 DDs (7,5 and 2). To go on a lot of rides, we're going to have to do this. How exactly does it work? Do you have to get in a special line or do you just ask the CM? Also, if both DDs go with DH first, can they then go with me after the swap? Or do they have to decide who they're going to go with? Thank you!

The person going on the ride lets the CM know when they enter the line. They are then given a pass to allow the other rider on. They will then usually enter through the FP line.

When I used it a while back about three years ago-I would get a Fast Pass then come back at that time tell the CM we needed to child swap. They would have my husband wait at the exit and when I got off the ride they would slid him in through the back while I took our daughter. I only have one child so we didn't have to worry about our child going on with both of us.

Our friends did have a daughter that could ride both times with parents while they switch the baby. I don't know if it has changed any but I don't think so. :flower1:

We used it at RNRcoaster for DS and at Star Tours for me!

Both places, we just all walked in with the que line and saw the preshow stuff then when we got to the loading area we told the CM and they directed us out. At RNR, DH and DS were directed into the gift shop (I think given a pass), when DD and I got off, DH was allowed back in and got to ride with DD on next car. I stayed in gift shop with DS. At Star Tours the CM just directed me to the chicken exit. It was such a nice day I sat outside and waited for my family. At TOT, they offered DS the chicken exit right by the elevators as he was very scared :scared: but he toughed it out. It might be a little different at each ride but there is a way and it works. THe CMs are very nice about it.

:D

Each ride works a little bit differently, depending on the configuration of the queue area. Be sure to ask a CM when you get to each one. Basically, the first adult, plus any children who are big enough, get in the regular queue. As they enter, they are given a pass for the second adult. The second adult is told where to wait for the first. The first waits in line and rides the ride. He/she then finds the second adult, takes over child care duties and sends the second on their merry way, pass in hand. When the second adult (and any children who want to go again because they were tall enough for the first ride) gets to the queue area, the pass is surrendered and he/she enters the FP or single riders line (or whatever the rules are for that particular ride), rides the ride and has a great time.

We used this a bunch with our 2 DS last year. Our older DS was tall enough for Test Track so he rode with both of us. He was too small for the others so we took them both to a nearby playground or arcade and met up there. Mission:Space is particulalry well set up for this. They have a playground right inside next to the ride exit. My boys hardly even knew that the swap had taken place.

LOL, I really thought you were all crazy people swapping your kids with strangers!! I just couldn't believe it ! I really thought that ....

My son loved it when we went in 2003. He would go with his father while I waited with our daughter then he would go again with me while my DH waited with the 3 yo.

I've got a daughter 5 years old that won't ride the "scary" stuff. Can we baby swap with her? She is tall enough to go on but not brave enough.

Thanks

Here is how it worked for us just a few weeks ago.

The entire party can either get a FP or wait standby depending on lines etc. In either case when you enter the line to use the FP or get into the standby line be sure and tell the CM you want to child swap. The non riding person receives a child swap pass for that ride, it looks just like a FP without a time restriction. It specifically says on the face what attraction and date it is good for and that up to 3 people can ride with it. **The baby, child who is not riding MUST be present to get the Child Swap Pass! Then the first parent rides while the the non-riding parent and non-riding child (children) can do something else and meet in a designated place. Then the parent who did not ride can choose when to ride and bring up to 2 people with him/her.

You no longer have to wait and return through the exit and you can choose when during that day to use the child swap pass.

I found this a great system and we usually found great alternatives for my neice and nephew while we rode. For example at RnRC my sil and I took the 1 and 3yo to see Playhouse Disney while my dh and dbil rode with my girls. Then we switched and dh and dbil took the little ones and my girls to B&TB while my sil and I rode RnRC later on.

Depending on what "scary rides" you mean, probably!. You can "child swap" with any child who dosen't want to ride or isn't tall enough to ride and is not old enough to wait alone. I don't think rides like hauted manision will have a child swap pass but TOT or say Dinasour will. Just check with the CM for your options. IIRC all the attractions with height restrictions offered child swap, not sure about others.

Bumping this... what an awesome program. I was certain once we had a baby I wouldn't be able to go back to WDW for a while (cause both DH and I like to ride the big stuff).
