...for a singleton to drive around WDW/Orlando. By that I mean, last time I went with the ex and she drove and I navigated as her navigation skills are crap. The only thing I found tricky was the really short notice of the junctions coming up, that nearly caught us a few times.

Whilst ds who will be 7 almost 8, thinks he can read maps, well he can, but is obviously too young to navigate!

We're going for 3 weeks and want to do the Malls and Universal this time and possibly KSC, so I was considering hiring a car for the middle week and doing all that then. I had originally planned to just use town cars/limo service otherwise.

Any thoughts on how easy I will find it to drive and navigate myself?

TIA

Claire

I would say that it is fairly easy.

To get to the malls etc. why not plan your route on the map and make a written checklist for your son.

Note on the list the road junction before the one you need to turn at as well as the one where you need to turn. This way, you will have warning of the turn.

Mrs Pat is definitely navigationally challenged :teeth: and I end up driving and navigating - usually by memorising the next 3 or 4 turns, :smooth:

Long experience has taught me the advantages of sat-nav ;)

Good advice from Mr Pat :goodvibes - if you know the junction before the one you need to take then you'll not miss it.

If you do miss a junction then it's not a problem as doing U-turns is easy as they normally have places for doing them (but not I4).

Most of the malls are very easy to find as they're either on main roads or visible from the main road - none easier than Belz at the end of International drive.

Universal is just off the I-4 and very well sign-posted so you'll have no problems finding it.

When using the I4 fix in your mind that Orlando is West and Tampa is East so before joining figure out whether you are wanting to go east or west then follow the signs for the appropriate city.

Where are you staying?
Universal is pretty easy from anywhere, if you get on I4 and manage to go in the right direction it's almost impossible to miss Universal.

The malls could be a little trickier, depending on where you are staying although my DW Jana seems to find malls by either telepathy or sense of smell (must be a woman thing LOL). You could print off directions on mapquest from your hotel to your destinations (you'd need the addresses including zip codes for destination and your starting point).

KSC is potentially the hardest journey but again directions off mapquest would help give you exact directions.
