We're thinking about joining DVC but we're not sure we'll be able to get the resorts every year.

I know we can rent out our points, but how easy is it to successfully rent your points each year? Assuming you rent for the "average" price.

Thanks!

TOO easy....Just among friends, neighbors, and the word spreading from renting to past friends, etc. we get asked all the time if we have any points to rent out....
I have also rented out points on the internet...
You won't have a problem...things could change in the future, but for now...you are good to go...
You can also bank unused points....

With the current "going price" for point rentals stuck between 10-14$ per point - and factoring in today's purchase price plus your annual fees - buying in now with the intent to rent on a regular basis is probably going to lose you quite a bit of money.

I agree - buy as many points as you'll use every other year and not more - or invest the $$ you would spend on DVC and just pay for a nice package or cruise every few years when you plan a Disney trip.

We wouldn't plan on renting them out each year. But if we don't go as frequently in the future we may sell off every 3rd year or something. We are buying more points than we may need for that in case we want to get a GV or do an ABD at some point. And the cruise. :goodvibes

Both the DCL and ABD use a whole lot of points and you can probably do it cheaper just by paying cash for that once in a while vacation. You could always do a transfer in from another member for that rare GV.

5by5, I've said it before, and I'll say it again...
Your avatar looks like a blond lady in a green dress, bending over showing her unhooked garter belt.

Off topic?... Yes (mods I appologize), but that's all I can see when I see that avatar. :teeth:

You need a vacation, you old geezer!:rotfl2: Only an old geezer would remember that those things were called "garter belt". I thought the avatar was a fat bumblebee:confused3

Using points for the cruise and ABD is not a great use of points. You will likely do better just by paying cash for those trips. Sounds like maybe you should start with a smaller contract and see what your usage is like and go from there.

Lots of folks start with the idea of "every-other-year" and then get hooked and end up going down 3x/year! :rotfl2:
