How early was your room available?

so, does online check-in really make a difference in how early your room is available then? i could have sworn i read somewhere that it doesn't.

i'm appreciating the info in this thread though. in february we will be staying at WDW after our disney cruise. i think we arrive back to port canaveral about 7:30am on disembarkation day, and then we'll drive to orlando. i didn't know how much of a chance we had of getting checked in to our room early, but it sounds like that might actually be a possibility!

For obvious reasons, it does make a difference, because you are indicating a time of arrival. When you check-in, the computer picks the first available room.

We arrived at CSR at 7:15AM over Easter break this year and our room was ready. We indicated a 7AM arrival with online check in. Our request for top floor was also met. :-)

We checked into the Contemp. in May 2012 just before 7 am and our room in the tower was ready :) Was great to drop our things before heading to the park (we had stayed at Shades of Green the evening before but wanted to get to AK quickly that morning after checking so it worked out great that the room was ready)

What a great questions OP? I was thinking the same thing too! Our August trip has us arriving at MCO at 955, by the time we get to POR I assume it will be around 11:00. We are hoping to have our room available at that time. This thread makes it seem promising.

We arrived at Yacht Club (June 2011 on a Monday) at about 11:30, in room at around 12:00 and on Spaceship Earth around 1:30! :goodvibes Online check-in.

Checked into FQ on 12/24/11 at 8am and the room was ready! Amazing! I think I did online check in if it was around then.

My wife and I stayed at ASM in March 2011. We got there at 0645 (not intentionally, just made better time than we thought), but they had a room for us in one of the Calypso buildings (our only request). It was nice to go ahead and take our luggage to our room and freshen up a bit after a 9-hour car ride from Tennessee!

We had two rooms at POR last year and one was ready at 11am, the other not until 2pm

When we moved over to YC, both rooms were ready around noon.

Our worst experience was at the contemporary in November of 2012. We did online check in and put in our arrival time like we've been doing and up to that point had experienced having our room ready upon check in. This time, we arrive around 10 and waited until 4:30.

It really wasn't a big deal - but of course this was us checking in before our wedding and needing to put together welcome bags, pick up tuxes, etc. So we just ended up making up the welcome bags in the lobby (we had shipped the components to the resort ahead of our arrival) while we waited for our room. Finally got the text around 4:30. Our rooms were at the very end of the garden wing so I figured it just took the mousekeepers that long to finish the hallway.

We normally do online ck in. Some times we ll stay at values first night and ck in DVc villa next morn around 8-8:30 am

Yes. They ask for your arrival time when you complete online check-in. Per the CM I spoke with at POR regarding this, they assign you to a room that will be ready based on your arrival time. Room requests are looked at secondary, if at all. The one time I did online check-in, I arrived at 11am and they had a room ready for me but it was the exact opposite of my request. Apparently, mousekeeping had started in Alligator Bayou and I was holding out for Magnolia Bend. About 4 hours later, they had a Magnolia Bend room ready for me. So as a rule of thumb, if having a room ready is important, make no requests and do online check-in. If a room that meets your request is most important, avoid online check-in.
