My Mom is having a second operation on her back this Jan, we are planning to go to wdw sept 2009. She did well our last trip but I think that a WC would have been helpful for her stamina and quality of her trip. We don't need a chair for full time just parks, how early to we need to get to the parks prior to rd during Sept? Any photos of the WC from the parks? Any tips at all would be helpful!
Thanks

I've heard you need to be there before 10:30 to get one for sure, but it may be later than that in September.

Most of September is not that busy of a time.
If you want to rent an ECV (power mobility scooter), you should be there before 10:30 to have the best chance of getting one.
There are more wheelchairs than ECVs, so getting a wheelchair is not usually a problem unless you come much later in the day during a busy time period.

I don't have any real good pictures of the park wheelchairs, but they are like the ones in this picture:

The picture shows the wheelchair 'corral' for the wheelchairs you can borrow at the bus stop at AK to get to the front of the park where wheelchairs can be rented.

I can easily shove a wheelchair into my Nissan Sentra. It is cheaper to rent off site. The hardest trip is from the car to the ferry to Magic Kingdom then inside to park and wait for a chair. If you are really cheap like me then you can buy one at a yard sale for example. It would be shipped free with your luggage then you could save the chair for later use, resell it, or get a tax write of for donating the wheelchair to charity.

Using and ECV or wheelchair does not mean the you have to use it all day for everything. Some people use a chair or ECV to get from point A to point B then park the chair and see a show, dine or shop. All you do is make the chair a bit unique like a towel on the seat the park it in a designated stroller parking spot or against a wall that is not blocking traffic. At SeaWorld I parked and walked into numerous shows as I could get a better seat than in an ECV.

September has Labor Day and Night of Joy. Once Labor Day is over then the parks are very low turnout except some special events like Night of Joy but you can work around those. I would not worry about parks not having wheelchairs as you will be there during the slow time.
