How early does DME take you to the airport?

I am debating whether to have my daughter use ME or just get a Mears van to the airport. Here's why...

We are staying at Kidani. We are staying for a week but my daughter has a flight on her own home midweek. That day, we have a 1PM lunch at Kona Cafe. Her flight is at 6:30PM. I was told that to use DME, she needs to be back at Kidani to catch the bus... she couldn't take it from the Polynesian where we will be.

Is this really true? Does she have to go back to the hotel where she is staying to use DME?

How often does DME run? Last year when she took a shuttle, she left the Dolphin 3 hours prior to flight time (we spent the day at the Studios and I left to take her to the Dolphin to catch the shuttle and then went back to the park.).

Will I have enough time to enjoy a leisurely lunch at 1PM if I need to get her back to Kidani for DME?

Many thanks...

The bus will take her back about 3 hours before flight time (4 hours for international or charter flights).

She must take the DME bus from her (your) resort. And be ready to board the bus, with carryons and everything, 15 minutes before that.

It is a good idea to shoot for being back at her resort an hour before bus time. Two thirty in your case. So that 1:00 lunch is not going to be all that LEISURELY.

The DME bus back to the airport is assigned and she should make sure she has a confirmation paper (normally delivered to the room early morning of the day before she leaves). It is of utmost importance not to miss the DME bus since there is then no guarantee there will be room on the next bus (or there will even be a next bus soon).

Since your daughter's DME pick up time would be around 3:30, I would think that a 1:00 lesiurely lunch would be doable. My suggestion would be that you send her back to Kidani by taxi. This way you will be sure that she will be back to the resort no later than 2:45. This will give her ample time to get her luggage from bell services and be waiting for the DME bus 15 minutes prior to her scheduled pick up time.
Or perhaps you can change your lunch to 12:30, if you do not want her to take a taxi.

Yes, she absolutely has to be at Kidani in order to use DME. DME it tied to your resort reservation. We may see DME change and give us the ability to catch it whereever we wish to, but at this time, it would be mass chaos.
She will be given a pickup time of around 3:30..which means she needs to be back at Kidani around 3...you need to be out at the bus stop 15 or so mins before the stated time, otherwise you chance missing the bus.

Don't see why you can't enjoy a nice lunch at 1...that should make it easy for her to head over to MK by 2:15 and get the Kidani bus. If you don't want to do that, then have her cab it back to the hotel.

It will be even easier to get her back to Kidani... we are driving down so getting around is just time consuming, but not a problem. I was just looking to avoid the drive if I could.

Thanks....

The only thing easier would be to have a car service pick her up at Poly after lunch.
