How early do you send a box to yourself?

I was looking at all the packing restrictions for flying and I think mailing down our toiletries is going to be the best way to get around that. If we're arriving on a Sunday how early should we mail the box so it's there when we get there? How do we let the front desk know about it also?

Just a thought:

A friend of mine went to WDW at Christmas time a few years ago. She mailed all the presents. The box was lost in transit, and never found.

So don't mail anything vital.

I was just looking to mail toiletries to get around the airlines and their 3 oz rule.

I mailed a box 2 times to ASM. From Cleveland, Ohio 10 days in advance.
You can even track it on line.

I mailed a lot of things...
dry cereal
rain ponchos
pool towels
mudslides
mixer
fans
poptarts
ziplocks
snack cakes
paper plates
plasticwear
napkins
watershoes
coffee pot
coffee
sugar
unbrellas

Never had a problem. I called the ASM the day they should of got it.
They checked and said it was there BOTH times.

We used that same box to mail stuff back. I packed a black marker and packing tape in the box. Just folder the box the other way and address it to home! The front desk took the box and charged us 25.00.
It took a bit longer to get the box back home. I dont think they mailed it out right away.

How do you get your box once you arrive at the resort? Is there a limit to the number of days they'll hold it for you? Is there any special notation you should make on the box like your arrival date?

I mailed my box UPS and went to their site and they told me how long it would take to ship my box etc. I think it was five or seven days.

When I checked in the front desk actually told me that I had a box waiting and they delievered it to my room.

I called VWL on our last trip to see how long they would hold the box. They said if over 7 days they would charge storage fees.

Do I need to let them know I'm mailing a box or is this an everyday occurance for them and they'll just hold it until we check in?

No, you don't have to let them know. Upon check in let them know you have a box waiting and they will either give it to you or have bell services bring it to your room.

You can pack toiletries in your checked luggage...the three ounce rule only applies to carry-ons. Unless you're not checking you bags, there is really no need to send things ahead.... ...

I don't know why but I have this fear about mailing stuff to the resort. I am glad I can read all the posts that give me positive feed back on mailing stuff. I am hoping I will be able to just go ahead and mail the stuff.

Does anyone know if you can retrieve your box when checking in late. Our flight doesn't arrive until 10:30 pm and we're taking magical express to All Star Music. Will we be able to get any package that I ship when we check in or will we have to wait until morning?

Well, thanks everyone, you all answered all my questions without me even having to post a thing!!! ;)

When I was checking into CSR, they actually brought out my package to me as I was checking in, and I hadn't even asked.

I would definately do it again, as it worked out really well.

You put your name and number on the box then give it to the little guy behind the counter...not the guy with the light up sticks but the guy behind the airline counter...you know at the airport where you fly places.

Maybe you didn't eat your Wheaties today so your IQ isnt so high....It's ok.

5 days ahead, fedex

if we're arriving on a saturday, the box goes fedex monday previously

only toiletries - nothing vital or irreplaceable

never been lost or damaged in transit
