How early do you get to MK on NYE?

I was thinking of getting there about 9:00 or so. We are staying onsite. I am afraid to leave for fear we won't get back in. So are we talking 16 hours of MK on one of the most crowded days of the year? What can we possibly do for 16 hours, but of course wait in lines

What have others done?

I'm curious too! Also, is MK the only NYE party place in WDW (well...besides for PI which we can't attend for we have minors)

From what I've read everywhere, MK will be at capacity & close by 10am or so and if you leave during the day you most likely wont be able to come back. Also it's the most crowded park on NYE. We decided to go to Epcot instead because of that,and also because MK is totally alcohol-free and that's not great on NYE for us. Epcot has a special Illuminations show that night.

(Keep in mind I have not done this myself,but that's what I've read on other threads on the forums here, on allears.net and in the guide books.)

I have a guest assistance card,so I was able to go on all the attractions I wanted to at the MK. I felt bad for all the people who had to wait in the horrific lines. My suggestion is to make a list of the 5 must dos in the MK and go on them;the rest would be a nice surprise.

I went two years ago and I belive the CM said it was closed by 12:00.
The first hour it wasn't that bad then after that it was wall to wall people.
You will have to get a fast pass for most rides unless you like to wait 2hrs.
You can do COP, People Mover and attractions like that without a huge wait. Make a ADR for later in the day and that will give you a break. Get your spot for the parade or fireworks at least 90 min. ahead of time if you want a good spot.
I did it once and thats enough for us, we are going over Chritmas and New Years this year, but we won't be at MK. I aslo think Mk opens hr. early all week so maybe you can get two good hrs. in before the huge crowds come.
