How early do you get the actual tickets for Air Tran?

Hi! I've never bought airline tickets online before. I bought our Air Tran tickets quite some time ago, and haven't really thought about them for a while. When should I expect to receive them for an October trip? Are they mailed our just weeks before, like I'm expecting for our Disny stuff? Do I pick them up at the airport? We rarely fly, and the last time we did, we had booked everything together and just had our TA hold the air tickets until the rest of the stuff came in. I just don't want to be missing something and be sitting here with a false sense that everything is taken care of.

Any Air Tran experts out there?

TIA

When you booked online did you select that you wanted paper tickets or e-tickets? If you went the e-ticket route which is most likely then all you have to do is show up at the airport and check in at the counter or kiosk.

Most online airline ticket purchases are electronic tickets. You simply print your confirmation email and bring that with you. They usually don't ask for it, just your ID and they can pull up your reservation that way. I doubt you will be receiving actual tickets. We have flown AirTran many times and we always use the airport kiosks to check-in.

Thank you for the quick replies. I would have been sitting here for months, waiting for the tickets in the mail.

The only thing I printed out is the paper that says "receipt and itinerary". So, you're saying this is all I should need? Now, I plan to use the 24 hour check-in, to get our seats together. Once I do this, do I also need to check in at the kiosk in the airport...to get some sort of ticket etc. that is different from the receipt I have? Or do I just get in the line right before we board the plane, and show them this printed receipt and whatever I print out when I check in online 24 hours before? I've never heard of getting on a plane with no real ticket, so this is all new to me. Thank you all so much.

The very first thing you need to do is sign your family up for their rewards program. The next thing you need to do is call Airtran today and request your seating for your flight. Do not wait until the day before to choose seating because you could get poor seating. If you go to www.seatguru.com it will show you the best seating for the airplane your on so when you call airtran you are prepared to request what you want. I don't believe that the online check in is really worth it but if you do go that route then all you need to do is show up at the airport and show the agents at the counter your printed check in confirmation and they will check your baggage. Then you are all set and on your way to MCO.
