Our reservation is for 8:30 but the Galactic Spectacular is scheduled for 10:00. Do we need to be there at 8:30 or can we wait a little later?

It is recommended that guests check in 30 minutes or more before their stated
check-in time.

We arrived about 5 minutes late when we went in December and were still able to find a table. Unless you haven't toured Launch Bay yet, or met any of the characters, there's not much to do at the party other than eating and drinking and there are no chairs. Will Movie Magic be shown that night prior to SWGS? If so, the stormtroopers will lead you out to the viewing area prior to that show so you can see it as well so I wouldn't be terribly late. Plus, honestly, the dessert tables got a little gross as the party went on, so I probably wouldn't push it past 15 minutes late.

We have already explored Launch Bay and are not wanting meet characters. I'm not sure if Movie Magic will be shown, I went to check on the Disney site and and says no performance. It may be to early for them to post the time because we go at the end of July.

No real need to arrive early if you are not interested in exploring or characters (which there are wait times for...20-30 minutes for some ). The line for drinks was quite long though, so you may want to arrive early if you want a couple. Although, the drink line was much shorter later, so maybe arriving later would be just as good. Tables to stand at were easy to find throughout the evening. The show and fireworks were fabulous!

We got there about 10 minutes late and it wasn't a problem. We found a table in the back corner which was nice so we were out of the way and one of the first ones out. We didn't experience many lines for drinks or food. We didn't care to explore launch bay much or go meet characters we were there for the drinks and some food.

Agreed

Most are usually less during the party.

The line is not bad as it gets later into the party.

See you there. Look for the tall good looking young man, he'll tell you where I am.

One of the party coordinators recommended that if we wanted to meet the characters, we should do it later in the party. At that time most other non-party guests would be getting a spot for the show. We took his advice and saw all the characters with no lines. When we got back to the party, it was almost time to walk out with the Storm Troopers.

You are right, the wait times did decrease, but still 10-15 minutes. I was afraid we would miss getting out on time me if we waited. What was nice though, was my 11 DD could wait in line while DH and I had a cocktail and dessert. She was more into the characters.

The storm troopers didn’t walk us out..... I heard they do, but I didn’t see them. There were two walking around outside as we were heading in, but they didn’t stop. Instead, two sisters led us out with flags.

They do but if you're towards the back of the line heading for the viewing area, you may not see them.

They're the same Stormtroopers that mingle at the party. I've never known them not to do a walk through a few times.
Instead, two sisters led us out with flags.
Now that's a new one on me.

Right behind the Storm Troopers, we had two young girls holding lightsabers leading our group.

Oops... it was light sabers, not flags. Maybe we missed the stormtrooper lead out. It was the girls with sabers, then disabled, then we were immediately after, but there were a lot of disabled and their families, so maybe I didn’t see far enough ahead for the Stormtroopers.
