How early do rooms fill up 2020?

My family is planning a trip for June 2020, and out of curiosity I looked to see how much a room at the polynesian would cost, and standard rooms are already totally booked for over a year from now. Is this normal? Are all of the rooms going to fill quickly? We're wondering how early we should reserve something just so we know we're on Disney property. We've never seen this happen before on previous trips.

I'm not sure how many standard rooms there are at the Polynesian so that might be a factor.

I ran into the same issue with wilderness lodge, had found a price point in a standard room I could "tolerate" and the next morning it was gone.

If you're dead set on a room type or your dates are non negotiable, you can just book now and if/when discounts get released, rebook with a discount.

Standards typically go first at deluxe resorts and are typically the rooms blocked out when groups make bookings. If you know you are going and you know your dates, I would book now to lock something in at your desired resort. You can always modify if a different room category pops up or if a discount is released that applies to your resort, room category and dates.
