How early do I need to get there?

I have a 7:10 Plaza Inn breakfast reservation on a Thursday when the park opens at 8, but it's 7am for MM. How early should I plan on getting there to get through security and to the front gates so I'm not late?

There is a separate entry for dining reservations. I believe it's on the left side closer to DTD. I have always made reservations during the MM time and I get there only about 10-15 mins beforehand and have never had a line.

Is security pretty quick to get through that time of morning?

Either way, security is uaully very quick at that time of day.

Have ubber drop you on the downtown disney side of the park rather than harbor. Lines are shorter due to more check stations on that side.

You have the best dining reservation for a Plaza Inn Character Breakfast.

As mentioned, there is a special entrance for going to a CB at the Plaza Inn.
Security has been fairly good these days. With it opening so early for DTD business, you don't experience the mob as before.
