Hi!
We would love to try Trails End for breakfast one morning during our next trip in May but I wasn't sure what time to make an ADR for because of travel time.
We will have a car would it better to drive to Fort Wilderness and catch the internal bus? What time do the buses start running? Which mode of transportation would you suggest?

Thanks! :thumbsup2

Drive and catch the bus. The buses start early 6:30 (?) because they are the same buses that the campers use to get to Trails End and the dock and everywhere else.

To take the boat to FW you would have to park at the TTC take the monorail or ferry to the MK and then the boat back to FW. It would take an extra 45 minutes instead of 10 - 15.

Good thinking chartle about the buses. We will be staying at POR so we wouldn't be driving to MK. I suppose the boats have to start running pretty early to get folks from FW to MK.

You also have to think about what you want to do after TE.

You may just want to bus it so you don't have to worry about your car after breakfast.

You are on your toes chartle!! We don't want to have to go back up front to "fetch" the car. I think we'll stick with the MK boat route. Where do I find the times the boats start?

Just post a question in the Camping Forum.

The boat between FtW and MK only starts 1/2 hour before park opening.

But the boat that runs from CR to WL & FtW starts at 6:45. I don't know what time the first departure is from CR.

Thanks for the info joelkfla!! I think a 9:30 Trails End ADR should be okay. Surely we can get a MK boat heading back to FW by 9:00 or so.

Carla

Yes, should be fine. I might try to be at the dock by 8:45, so you can be at the restaurant 15 minutes early.

It's a really quick drive from POR to FW. You just head right on Bonnet Creek, take a left at the lights and pretty soon you're at the Campground.
But taking the ferry from MK is one of my favorite things to do.

If you want your car at the MK lot, park there and hop on the resort monorail and get off at the Contemporary. Then go down to the boat dock and take the boat over to FW from there. You can eat earlier than 9:00 that way.

Then hop on the big boat over to MK for your park time.

On the other hand, driving to FW, bus to Settlement for breakfast, boat to MK, boat back to FW, bus to your car and drive back to PO might actually be quicker! The drive from FW to PO is 5 minutes if you get stuck at the light!

But you shouldn't be parking in the FW lot all day for park access. Its just like you shouldn't park at the Poly, eat breakfast and then go over to the MK for the day.

I'm pretty sure they changed the lot access so you have to go through a guard shack before you get to the overflow lot. Just like all the other resorts.

Thanks everyone for your helpful replies!! Gee, I sure didn't realize POR was so close to Fort Wilderness!! We could just drive there. Then again I'm like dgaston I do love the boat ride!! ;)

You're right - I forgot that we had to go through the guard shack in December.
