How early can I start booking?

Hi,
I'd like to start looking into making reservations for next September 2017 (possibly October). The Disney website won't let me go past December 2016. What is the earliest date I can actually book a package and if I do a room early, can I add a package later? I know this must have been asked before and I did look for information, but can't find anything.

You can add the package later, but for September, I would wait. That's not a peak time, so it's not worth the hassle of booking, paying the deposit, calling back to add the package, getting a refund on your deposit, canceling the existing reservation, booking the new reservation and the package, etc. I'm waiting to book for January of next year and decided to just wait on the packages being released since it's not during a school break or holiday. Packages should be released in a couple of months.

Actually, Robo, as far as I know you can only book by phone up to 499 days in advance (and you can definitely only book room only), and if I'm counting right, 499 days is next August. Also, if you start with a room only and want to switch to a package, the room only has to be canceled and payments made to the room only can't be transferred over.

I would wait- I want to say they'll open package booking for all of 2017 in a couple of months.

Thank you all...I think it's worth waiting a little longer to book a package. I'll do my planning on paper for now!

You'll be able to book packages for 2017 as soon as they announce the room rates for that year. The last couple of years, that's happened in June or July.
