What is the proper time to start mowing lawn on a Sunday morning.
8am, 8:30am? 9am?
Thanks!!!

I usually wait until 10 AM myself. Unless you see that your neighbors are up before that.

I am currently waiting for it to be 10 am to even call my SIL to arrange a time to get together.

I've got a lawn-mowing-timing theory: If you are anxious to get out - there most likely will be several others nearby just waiting for someone to "be first."

In our subdivision - once the first person gets outside and fires up their tractor, in no less than 5 minutes, there will be at least 5 others out. No one wants to be first. :moped:

GO FOR IT!!!

Now that I am up early, it doesn't bother me to hear lawn mowers going. But, boy, when I slept in on Sunday mornings, it used to annoy me to no end!!!!! I think unless you know your neighbors' habits really well, 9:00am is still too early on a Sunday. My rule would be Saturday 9:00am, Sunday 10::00am.

You know the SIL I was waiting to call? Well, I just woke up the entire family of five, so if you live in Olathe KS, you can mow, I woke up your neighbors!

On a Sunday? 10am Unless you have very understanding neighbours. I would be mad as hell if somebody woke me up with a lawn mower before that. And I frequantley am as future in-laws LOVE to garden as early as possible!

Growing up--- we were never allowed outside to even play before 10am. My parents always taught me it was just plain inconsiderate to be noisey outside before then. We still abide by that rule in my house today. Now, I have neighboors who have started up their lawn tractor at 6 am to haul wood around their yards. They are the type of people that have no consideration for anyone but themselves. I guess it's no wonder that people only seem to last in the houses in our immediate neighboorhood for 2-3 years.

Sunday is my day to sleep in.
So fire up that lawn mower @ 8:00 A.M.
Your going to have 1 very angry lady in P.J's yelling @ you.
Warning I'm going through Menopause.
Mood swings can be hazard to your health.
WARNING THIS IS NOT A JOKE!!

Personally I'd say any time after 6am but then I'm an early bird. More realistically though would be 9am. If your neighbors haven't been woken up before then by birds, remote car locks (our Subaru is really noisy) cars driving by and general outside noise than they're the type to sleep through anything.

I think 9 AM is fine. Anyone still sleeping that late probably won't care as they'll just sleep through it.

Of course, that doesn't solve the problem of trash trucks coming around well before 7 AM here some weeks (not on Sunday but still unacceptable).

I have always used 9:30 everyday as my noise limit. If we are having work done that starts earlier I contact the neighbors prior.

Around here the trash companies can be and will be fined if they are on the roads before 7am. DH drove a garbage truck for several years and the company wouldn't allow employee's through the gates before 6:45 a.m. to prevent a fine. I guess we're lucky.

Yesterday and today (Sat. and Sun.), we had neighbors up at 9am mowing the lawn. It woke us up both mornings.

I guess it didn't help that we didn't get back from Universal, City Walk until 3 am and just wanted to sleep this morning!!!! :rotfl:

The unofficial times in our neighborhood for outdoor power equipment are Sat 9 AM and Sun 11 AM.

I live next to a school yard. The local soccer league holds their games there all day Saturdays & Sundays so we are woken up by 8:30 each weekend. And my favorite thing is the Memorial Day tournement--it starts at 7 AM Memorial Day, there is someone yelling thru a bull horn all day! Not to mention the cars parked in our street, the garbarge left behind.....so I wish the problem was a neighbor mowing their lawn early on the weekend! At least we could talk to the neighbor about it.

we go by the noise ordinance in our town.....7:00 am

Where I used to live there was a statuate that stated that no one could mow their grass before 8 am. Not everyone complied, unfortunately!

I work until midnight, so I particularly appreciate it when those who like to mow in the morning can wait until at least, after nine!

I agree with the timing unless all your neighbors are early risers. I can understand the need to sometimes start early, but 8:00 is WAY too early on a normal Sunday. :earseek:
