Hi Everyone! We have reservations for Cali Grill after a day at MK. I am hoping not to have the whole family get changed. I was thinking of wearing (to MK) a pair of (nice) khakis and knit top. Ds would probably wear nice shorts or khakis and a polo shirt, ditto DH. What do you think?

If these wouldn't be OK, do I wear something casual to MK and change at the lockers (really am trying to avoid this) or go back to our hotel early to change? What else does everyone else do?! Thanks!!

my son and I usually wear a nice pair of shorts or sometimes dockers and a golf/polo shirt with a collar . DW wears a polo shirt or blouse and capris or shorts and we have never had a problem.

trust me you will have no problems in nice shorts and a polo shirt!!! Thats what my son wore and he was fine. I wore reg but comfy capris (not at all fancy!!), a reg tshirt, and comfy sandals and they never said anything to me! :goodvibes

You can be really casual but for a restaurant experience like that I would want to leave the park, go back to the hotel, freshen up, redo my makeup and change. For me how I feel it a big part of how my dining experience is.

I'd say whatever you would typically wear to a friday night nice sit down restaurant at home. if you're going from park to restaurant, I'd just wear a shirt that day that has a design on it, maybe embellished with some sparklies and cute sandals instead of sneakers. the guys will be fine in polos, that's pretty much my dbf version of dressed up.
I wore dark skinny leg jeans and a cute sweater all day at the park and then to dinner, and dbf wore dark jeans and a long sleeve polo, granted it was during the 30degree cold snap, so don't go by what we wore!

Most attire is permitted, provided that the clothes are clean and not falling apart. I think it's really important to consider your own personal comfort level, though. My partner and I went to Steakhouse 55 in Disneyland once, and I made the mistake of wearing jeans and a knit top. I felt like I was under-dressed even though there were a couple other people in the restaurant that were dressed like me or even more casually. I couldn't enjoy my nice dinner because I spent the whole meal worrying that I stuck out like a sore thumb. I have erred on the side of caution ever since then, and always dress a little more formally than is probably necessary.

Many will be dressed similar to what you describe. There will be those dressed nicer, and even some dressed more casual (t-shirts are allowed after all).

So I wouldn't worry about it, you'll be fine.

If it's a hot day you can always freshen up in the restroom when you arrive.

We went straight from MK to our dinner at CG, too. I was wearing a sundress with flip flops, and brought a cardigan to wear over it at the restaurant. My SO was wearing something equally casual (khaki cargo shorts and a polo golf shirt). We felt under-dressed going in, but there were definitely people dressed more casually than we were. You'll be fine in what you described.

It took a lot longer to get there than we anticipated though. We drove our car to MK. MK closed at 9 pm and our ADR was at 9:40 (we eat late and are from a different time zone, no kids, so this time was perfect). We left MK right at 9 and barely made our 9:40 ADR. It took forever to take the monorail back to the TTC. Not sure what your transportation situation is, but wanted to make a note...

For DH and I we normally go back to the resorts, and relax, go to the pool or nap, and then change and head out for the Poly for a adult beverage and then head over for dinner. I personally feel better after cleaning up and changing. It's nice to get a little dressed up it just makes it feel more special. We are all about the experience, and for us it seem to enhance the experience. I also suggest this if you have children gives them some down time, and perhaps some rest.
Here's what we have worn in the past ( depending on the weather of course)

DH - Docker's style shorts, polo - Khaki pants( dockers) - long sleeve casual button down shirt - deck shoes

DD - Sundress and sandals - peasant skirt, long tunic style shirt, low flat boots

Me - Sundress and sandals - dressy capris, twin set, flats - casual pants and sweater, low flat boots

We always go back into the parks, so we always make sure we can still get in and out of rides without any problem.

Enjoy..

I have always worn jeans or dress shorts to the CG and my wife always wears Capri's (sp). I just think as long as u don't look like a slob u r fine.

My wife and I always go back to the hotel before dinner to shower and change. It's just how we r. we usually don't spend full days in the parks anymore. we like to do morning, hit a parade, go back and hangout or nap, have dinner and then go back to a park at night.

just us though. . .

I am with you on that one. I am one of those that likes to go back and change. For me its normally a maxi dress and sandals and for DH its linen pants and a light shirt. I just like to feel special and look nice when we go out for dinner. Plus after a day in the parks I'm normally sweaty and gross so its nice to have a shower and put on clean clothes.

I have seen people dressed in all sorts at the Cali Grill and other places so where whatever you feel comfortable in.

I was there for my 5:30pm ressie on Saturday, 9/24. I wore a sundress. The majority of the men seemed to be in polo shirts and nice khaki's.

Women varied. There were sundresses, dressy capri's, skirts.

The weather was hot and humid when I went so no way would I have wanted to go straight from a park.
I had to go back to my resort to clean up first. I went back early for a nice break before my reservation. I took a cab from my resort direct to CR. But if I had decided not to do that, I would have taken a bus to MK and then walked to CR. With all the monorail issues, I don't trust them to get me to an ADR on time anymore.

Then I brought park clothes/shoes in a small pack which I changed into in a rest room before heading back into the park (I walked to MK). I got a locker for my stuff and enjoyed the park for the evening without having to go back to my resort to change a 3rd time.
