How Doth Thou Sneeze?

As a great people watcher at the parks, I am always amazed at the number of people I see who sneeze and make no attempt to cover their mouth! Has this courteous gesture gone by the wayside?

Whether inside or outside in close proximity with others, a sneeze can project germs for several feet from your mouth.

I was in Mouse Gear at Epcot the other day and a gentleman sneezed three times in short order just ahead of me. He made no attempt to cover and just let them blast out. :eek: I promptly turned around and walked back the way I came. While we have no way of knowing, or control over, what has transpired before us, actually seeing this made me change my course for sure.

Anyone else feel this way? :surfweb:

I don't use my hand to cover a sneeze or a cough. I turn my head and project it into my shoulder, especially if I don't have hand sanitizer or a sink close by.

Funny thing is that I sneezed just before I read this post!!!! I sneezed into my shoulder b/c I don't have sleeves on. Otherwise, I belong to the "sneeze into the elbow club" if I don't have a tissue/anti-bac handy. If I'm at school (or where ever) and can grab a tissue, I will sneeze into that. Thankfully, I don't have gross liquid sneezes (if you know what I mean)!

I try to sneeze into my shoulder, but sometimes I'll sneeze in my elbow or forearm.

No kleenex, no papertowel, no napkin, no nothing, then it is the elbow :thumbsup2

If I don't have a tissue or anything handy, I lift my collar and sneeze down the front of my shirt. Boy, that sounds gross. :sunny:

::yes::
Me too! However I tend to sneeze towards my shoulder and not straight down my chest.

You guys are doing it all wrong. I just hold my sneezes in.

Although they DO end up coming out my ears but hey, what's a burst eardrum right? :p

p.s. I have never given thought as to my sneezing so can't really give you an answer. I sneeze from the sunlight so if you catch me sneezing I'm probably not contagious. LOL

Lately I have been trying to cough in my elbow. This way no germies on my hands in the off chance that a way to wash them is not immediately available. When I do sneeze it is in groups of 3 or 4 (allergies).

I also sneeze from the sun. Every morning, I will sneeze several times in succession as I drive 5 miles eastbound to work. Yesterday, I even had two volleys of sneezes. Nonetheless, I usually keep tissue handy, even in the car

I also have seasonal and dust allergies, and, unfortunately, our office cleaning people are not that effective. Yesterday, I was talking to a particularly persistant drug rep, who just wasn't going to let me get away, not even after I said, "excuse me, I need to sneeze". I was thinking to my self that it would serve him right if a had a wet sneeze all over his nice fancy outfit. But, I did the right thing, and got a tissue instead.
