How does Transfer then Banking work?

If you have a December UY then you need to use the points on that contract or bank them by December, if you have a March UY then its March.

Points maintain all of their original characteristics (restrictions and privileges status, banking deadlines, home resort status, etc.) independent of the membership within which they may reside.

Let’s assume you are a post 1/19 resale owner of 100 SSR points, Dec UY. Those points cannot book DCL, concierge collection, ABD, and they cannot book Riviera or any subsequent resort. Those 100 points must be banked by July 31st.

If you transfer into your membership 200 Direct March UY Riviera points, you can now book 200 points worth of stays 11 months at Riviera, or 7 months at Reflections, and trade out to DCL/ABD. Your dirty SSR resale points can commingle with the Riviera at 7 months to book 300 points of stays at an L14 resort, etc. Those 200 points must be banked by Oct 31.

All transferred points will have to be transacted with MS by way of a 9am call when a booking window opens, at the earliest.

If you have a December UY then you need to ...bank them by December, ...

I have a December use year and I have until the end of July to bank my points.
If you intend to bank your points, you must do so in the first 8 months of your use year.

But the problem is that you cannot see them on the website. You have to call MS to bank transferred points and to book using transferred points. If you have a Dec UY and are currently in Dec 2018 and someone else has March 2019 points to transfer, it's my understanding that they must be transferred into your Dec 2019 UY, not 2018. And you would not be able to use them until after Feb 28, 2019. You cannot borrow transferred points.

Transferred points keep their UY and resort.

If you have a Dec UY and are currently in Dec 2018 and someone else has March 2019 points to transfer, it's my understanding that they must be transferred into your Dec 2019 UY, not 2018. And you would not be able to use them until after Feb 28, 2019. You cannot borrow transferred points.

Points don't get transferred into a UY, they just get transferred. They maintain whatever UY they are. So you can only transfer once in/out of your 2018 UY. You can only transfer once in/out of your 2019 UY. As long as you haven't transferred for either year, you can bring in any UY's allotment of points and those points would maintain their banking deadlines.

So transferring 2018 March points wouldn't be possible because those points have given up the ghost, but 2018 AUG, SEP, OCT, DEC points would be possible. You COULD transfer in March 2019 points (despite still being in your 2018 UY for DEC because that's immaterial) and use them immediately according to their restrictions/privileges. No need to borrow anything as you would be using the March 2019 UY points according to their timeline rules with respect to home booking/banking.
