My aunt lives in Fl as well as her daughter and 2 grand children.
She wants to take them and another family from Pittsburg on the Disney cruise.
She will need 3 cabins in all.
When she books will she be able to get the fl rates for all 3 cabins even though the other 2 will be for non fl residents?
She asked me but I have no idea as I have never gone a DC before so I figured this would be the best place to find out what she is asking.
Thanks everyone.

One FL resident with appropriate ID must be booked in each cabin to qualify for the FL res discount. However, you don't have to SLEEP where you are booked.

IF the kids have appropriate FL res ID (there is a kid's ID card available), she should have 4 FL res.

She can book herself in one cabin, Daughter in one cabin, grandchild with ID in one cabin. Then place the other people as needed. Guest Services will give you "blank" keys (I call them mom keys) to get into the correct rooms. Thus, they can all sleep where they want to, have full access to the correct rooms, have their KTTW cards tied to the correct credit card, and still get the FL res rates. The ID cards will need to be shown at check in (there is a list of appropriate IDs at the WDW site...Fl driver's license, FL college ID, etc.)

Please note--it's not just living in FL that counts, it is having the appropriate ID. Many "snowbirds" live in FL part time but do not have the needed ID.

Military rates work differently--a person with appropriate military ID can book several cabins on one ID.

Jill is right that FL res rates in the past have been released at 60-75 days. However, this year they have been available as much as 4+ months in advance of some cruises.

If there is a particular cruise your family wants, they can book it at the regular rates. Then, if a FL res rate becomes available they can call DCL (or have TA do it) and have the FL res rate applied. Some TAs who specialize in DCL will computer track all their ressies and automatically nail the FL res rate for their clients who qualify for them. They will also track any rate reductions and get those for you if they happen!

Even if it is after the "paid in full" date, DCL will refund the difference if a lower rate becomes available.

Thank you all so much for your help. I am sure my aunt will be thrilled with this imformation as am I.
Maybe I will have to take her on a cruise with us some time !:goodvibes
