How does this work?

Hi! We are new to DVC and I had a question about booking a 2010 cruise.

We already booked the EB repo with cash onboard as we had just bought into DVC and weren't familiar with things. From what I have read you can not transfer cash reservation to DVC reservation so we need to make a new reservation and cancel the old one.

I am now seeing that if we bank our 2008 points and use 2009 points (and borrow like 8 points from 2010) then we can just use points for our cruise. I know this isn't the best value for our points but we were already planning on going on this trip so we think it will be worth it.

My question is, can I do this since I don't actually have all of those points in my account, or do they take all the points at the time you make the reservation?

The points are in your account, but they are tied to a use year for when the reservation happens. So with your banking and borrowing into 2009 and your 2009 points you should be OK.
