I am on the wait list for January for a 2 BR anywhere, I ask for them to autoconfirmed but dont know what this means. Will they just send me a confirmation in the mail?

When on the waitlist and your requested villa becomes available, a Member Services cast member will call you to verify that you still want to make the reservation or change. They'll only hold the room until the close of business on the day after they initially attempt to contact you.

If you've requested automatic confirmation, though, they'll simply make the reservation instead of attempting to contact you first. Then, they'll send you a confirmation. Note: automatic confirmation is only if the waitlist request becomes available 60 days or more before your check in date. If your check in is closer than that, they'll call. If your request isn't filled by seven days before your check-in, they'll take you off the waitlist.

Also keep in mind that waitlist requests only remain active for a month. If you want to stay on the waitlist longer than this, you have to call Member Services and ask them to extend your waitlist request.

Just to clarify a bit -

If you decide to waitlist, you may request either auto confirmation or a call. It's up to you. Many members check the DVC website (My DVC/Points/Reservations links) to see if there request has come through. It appears there well before the confirmation letter arrives.

In either case, your name/request will remain on the waitlist up to 31 days prior to check in. If you want to stay on the waitlist beyond that point, you call MS (at the 31 day mark) and ask to stay on the waitlist.

As Dave posted, there is no waitlist once you reach the 7 day mark. If you still hope to get your reservation at that point, you need to call daily (or more often) and hope for some pixie dust.

Best wishes -
