How does the waitlist work?

Hi everyone,
I am new to DVC, just closed in Dec, I am currently booked at SSR for Oct and would like to try for AKV Club level at my 7 month mark, I am thinking this will be full and I will have to go on a waitlist, so if I do that will I just keep my current reservation and if the waitlist comes thru just cancel then?

When you go on a wait list, it will fill automatically if it becomes available. You set it up or cancel your old reservation if it happens

If it doesn't ever come through, you still have your original reservation. You can set it up to expire 31 or 7 days prior to check in. If the new reservation will be less points than what you have,you'd want it to expire 31 days in advance so you don't end up with holding points.

There are only five two bedroom lockoffs on AKV Concierge level at Jambo House. None at Kidani Village. Even with a waitlist, if you have a multiple of days rather than just one or two, your waitlist may never come through.
