We will be taking our youngest to WDW in December of 2011. We plan of doing either the Quick DDP or the Regular DDP, however I noticed that the child plan is for ages 3 to 11. How does this work if he will only be 1 at the time? Our other child will be 10 so he will be considered an adult at the time of travel I thank?

Children under 3 don't get dining credits.

They can either share with the family, or at buffets, all you can eat family style, or fixed price restaurants they can eat for free. At 1 I don't really know how much he'll be eating.

If you want to get something specifically for the infant at a CS or an a la carte restaurant, you'd need to pay for it.

The 1 year old isn't factored in at all. You don't pay for them for dining plan, tickets, hotel, ect.

If you want to get them food, you should be able to do so at no cost (at least at buffets) or they can share off of your plate.

Children under 3 can eat for free on buffets, and they have childrens menu's you can order off of and just pay cash for,so they are not on the dining plan. This is the way we did it if memory serves me right. The only thing other than that was at CRT, my daughter got a free plate of buttered noodles or we had to pay $29 for a kids hot dog or something ridiculous.

CRT is a fixed price restaurant, from what I understand they will bring food for children under 3 without charge.

We went when my fifteen-month-old awhile ago and we had the Quick Service Dining Plan. It was no problem at all. I had worried that he would not have enough to eat, but it was really easy to share with him. I always picked my meals with him in mind and if I was ordering something I knew he couldn't eat (Fried Shrimp at the Columbia Harbor House), then we bought him a kids meal out of pocket.

We really liked the Quick Service Dining Plan since we were traveling with babies. It was really nice to not have to worry about making it to our ADRs on time or trying to keep the boys happy during a longer meal.

One thing we always did that helped was to get some ice water for Carter's sippy cup at every meal. All the counter service places gave us a really big cup of water for free, especially once they knew it was for him. That way he had tasty cold water to drink while we were touring the parks.

That is true. They will get a plate of buttered pasta.

Also in Norway, they will bring a child a plate of pasta at no charge.

Most of all the other resturants he either shared off our meal or if it was a buffet I made a seperate plate for him.

I never quite figured out the Ins and outs. We had dinner at Tutto Italia, the table service restaurant in Italy and ordered him a kids meal of spaghetti and meatballs. They didn't charge us for his meal and said it was because he was only 2. I had totally expected to pay for that one!
