How does Serenade of the Seas compare to Disney?

We are looking at spring break 2015 and can get a verandah room on royal for the same price as oceanview on disney. New orleans is much closer to home than port canaveral. We have been on all 4 disney ships. Is seranade comparable to any of them in size, offerrings, etc?

Thanks!

Anyone? We're looking at the Norwegian Fjords for next summer. Serenade has a good price and we've only ever sailed Disney....

I havent been on the Seranade but have been on the Radiance and she is her sister. The ship is a deck taller then the Magic and wonder. Overall I enjoyed the ship a bit more since it had more glass and viewing points. It was a very well designed ship and the spaces onboard were very elegant. The service was great. Pools were salt water though and 1 fresh water in the solarium which I wish disney put in for those rainy sea days.

I have sailed on sister ships Jewel (Baltic) and Brilliance (Norway). RCI's Radiance-class ships are my favorite because of all the glass, and they are a nice size. The Wonder and Magic are lovely inside, but I never thought they had very good outdoor viewing areas.

I think I may go ahead and put a place holder on the cruise I'm interested in just in case the Disney prices are as bad as folks are predicting. I'm still hoping for a B2B on the Magic Norway/Baltic, but I'm terrified of the price! The 11-night Arctic Circle on RCCL may be a good compromise (and I can afford a Junior Suite!). Thanks for the help!

nicbic97 - we just booked on Serenade of the Seas for March 28th 2015. We have sailed DCL four times and this will be our first time on RC. I'm searching for info and recommendations on hotels in NOLA for pre and post cruise. Also since we will be there on Easter Sunday we're hoping to find a nice Easter brunch to go to. Lots of planning to do!

I have a very dear friend that lives in Cordova!

FWIW, one BIG disadvantage that RCCL (Liberty)had vs. DCL was no movie theater. I have tweens/teens who love DCL movie theaters and sorely missed them on the Liberty. The RCCL big screen outside showed poker, tennis, golf all day and only 1 movie at night (and one movie in the large auditorium) on a 4 day cruise. They were too timid to try flow rider, ice skating or climbing wall, so they begged to go back on DCL.
However, Serenade has a 50 person dedicated theater. It appears that they show the same movie 4X a day---but at least there is a theater. It seems like a small issue on a cruise ship--but that was a major reason for us to book Serenade with our kids--got a great BOGOHO rate for a 10 day S. Carib.
We have taken RRCL (Vision) in the Baltics (when kids were 9) and were very happy with kids clubs, entertainment, and food. Our favorite cruise. I would take RCCL in Europe without hesitation, also loved the solarium.

We've booked the 4/4 sailing. We've been on the Fantasy and the Wonder and preferred the size of the Wonder. We had rebooked on board for the Magic, but it was going to be over 8K for one week! With the buy one, get one half off, we were able to book the same cruise and stateroom categories on the Serenade for $3800. To us, it was a "no brainer." We loved DCL, but they've priced this family of five out. Plus, we're excited about trying something new and leaving from NOLA!
