How does renting DVC points work?

I know this has been asked a million times but someone recently recommended this to me in order to get in on the dining plan. My hubby and I are going for 7 nights in June and are currently looking at staying at CBR but if this is cheaper we can certainly look into it... How does renting work and how much does it cost for the smallest room? It's just the two of us.

Hi!

The DVC rooms rent on a point basis. The least costly room for your June trip would be at OKW. A studio there, Jun 1-10th, will be 10 points per night for Sun-Thurs, and 24 points per night for Fri and Sat nights. For June 11-30 the point cost per night goes up to 11 for Sun-Thurs and 27 for Fri and Sat. There is a point calculator if you go under DVC on the home page of this site and you can also get a feel for all the resorts and options available.

Points rent for $9-12 each over on the Rent/trade board. With a point rental stay you are eligible for Disney's Magical Express and the Dining Plan.

As mentioned, if you stay @ OKW for any one week period from 6/01-6/10 the rate would be approx. $980. A week long stay during 6/11-30 would be about $1090. See how that compares to any discounts you might be able to receive through CRO.

It's about 200 cheaper than what we currently have at CSR...plus we can get the dining plan...if I calculated correctly...Here is how I did it based on the 12.00 point rate.

We are going June 8(thur)-June 15(thur)
June 8 = 120.00
June 9 and 10 = 576.00
June 11-14 = 528.00
Total = 1224.00
Right?
