pirate:Ok, so on Pirate night, if you are scheduled to dine in say Annimator's Palate then do they forgo the regular menu and all of the dining rooms and serve the same menu for pirate night. I guess if that is the case then what ever night is pirate night you don't get to sample what was supposed to be on the menu for that restaurant. Does that make since?:confused3

Also, do people (ok, adults) dress up on Pirate night? Any and all details would be appreciated. Thanks!

You not going to miss out on any food, all the restraunts serve the same thing I believe or a version of the same thing on pirate night. Your waiters and dining room staff will be decked out in pirate wear, ALOT of people will also be dressed up in their best pirate attire, kids, adults, men, women, young and old......Minnie, Mickey and all the gang.......
Jack Sparro will be on hand for pictures. There will be a pirate party out on deck 9 and fireworks that follow. Music, dancing and a really good time!!!!

Not knowing which cruises the OP is looking at, I just wanted to mention that there are no fireworks in Alaska. There is still a pirate party, but no fireworks.

This may be a silly question, when do we find out when pirate night is for our cruise?

ahhhhhh saddddd, Fireworks is what makes it SUPER SPECIAL.....Fireworks at Sea is a Disney Cruise Line thing.

The party alone is still soooo much fun. A first timer hint for you would be to go to the 99cent store if you have one or a party supply store and get glow sticks......the kids could wear them the night of the pirate party.

Call Disney Cruise Line and ask them for that information. It is always good to know when pirate, formal and semi-formal night is. They will tell you this info but remember it is ALWAYS subject to change.

Knowing which night all those things take place on help you to plan on what night to book Palo

While I agree 100%, not so special if the <boom!> causes glaciers to break or hurts the wildlife that is really close the the ship while on the inside passage. :wizard:

Alaska's just such a unique place. Environmentally, fireworks are a REALLY bad thing there.

All the more reason to take another DCL cruise, right? :flower3:

I'm not real sure about 3 night cruises but anything longer than that you will get your regular dining room menu sometime during your cruise. Each dining room will do it's regular menu and on pirate night they all switch to the pirate menu. If you're on a seven night you'll also see a captains gala menu, a prince and princess menu, till we meet again menu and something else that I cant remember right now.

both adults and children do dress up and you also receive a pirate bandana at dinner to help get everyone in the mood. Disney has everything times really well so you don't miss dinner or the evenings show in order to attend the party. The deck party is a lot of fun. We usually watch from the top deck starboard side. After the part there is a great big buffet.

As far as figuring out when pirate night is your best bet is to look at the navigators realating to your cruise in other ports. Have fun

Hubby and I always do!

Ok, so... everynight each dining room serves the same menu? I thought that each dining room had it's own menu. :confused3 Sorry but I'm confused with the rotating dining room.

Each resturant has its own individual menu, then on Pirate night ALL dinning rooms have the same "Pirate" menu.

On a 4 night or longer, your dinning rotation you will be in 1 of the dinning rooms twice (1 being for its menu, and the other for the "pirate" menu) so you will still be experiencing each resturant and its theme/atmospher and just basically use one resutrant a 2nd time for the special Pirate night events/dinning.

on 3 night cruises yes you will miss your 'regular' dining experience in the rotation for the 'Pirate' menu/event.

And yes many people deck out in Pirate wear, people of all ages, they have a great time, but know that there are many people who do not dress in Pirate wear too... Disney gives you a Pirate bandana to each person in your cabin (left in your room the nights turn down prior to Pirate night), and you can wear that, if you so wish.

Hope this helps clear things up some!

On 3 nt Dream sailings, there isn't a Pirate Menu in the restaurants, you have the normal menu. I think they still have a dessert buffet on the deck somewhere though. I kept forgetting to look for it when we went in May & again a couple of weeks ago.

Is it best to have the "formal" night be RP? When we sailed the Wonder years back, we had "formal" night at Tritons and it was very fitting. I wish I already knew the rotation now for our next weeks cruise

Every cruise I have been on where they did pirate night - except one - all cruises did the pirate night menu in all restaurants on pirate night. The exception was the Alaska cruise. We had a pirate night but no pirate menu.

On the longer cruises Pirate Night is after the regular rotational menus are done so you would not miss the "show" in AP or anything like that. Not sure how it is done on the shorter cruises. On the Dream I don't know which night will be pirate night - if it's the third night or the fourth (on the third I am scheduled to go to Remy).

I'm afraid I don't really care which restaurant I am in for which nights - but some do care that the theming of the restaurant match the theming of the menu and dress.

Fireworks are not permitted in the Alaska waterways. That is why they don't do them. They also have noise restrictions - so when the ship is in port or cruising the passage they can't play loud music on deck or have loud announcements. Fireworks were not permitted in the locations for the Baltic cruise last year, either.

What does the disney pirate bandana look like and is it the same for kids and adults? thanks!

Also, does anyone have an idea for an adult female pirate "look" that is not a costume? Thanks again!
